AFL Betting Tips – St Kilda v Richmond
Our early AFL Betting Tips Sunday game sees the St Kilda take on Richmond.
The Saints were absolutely woeful last week conceding at one stage a 13 goal to 1 run. It is hard to believe they could be so bad and the rot has really set in and their appears little positives on the horizon.
Richmond are fresh of the bye and have had a terrible run with injuries. They would have some tired young players who needed to rest after putting together 7-8 weeks of good footy. Player availability will be key for the Tigers however the ground is a bit of a concern. They certainly don’t play as well at Marvel (lost their last 2 there this year 47 points Bulldogs and 37 points Nth Melbourne).
So St Kilda will give themselves a little sniff on their home deck. This is such a crucial game for both sides with any aspirations of September the loser here may kiss the AFL Finals 2019 goodbye.
…and the numbers
Head to head Richmond has won the last three in convincing fashion and has kicked north of 100+ points in each of these wins. St Kilda had won two in a row prior that, one of them a low scoring 55-46 win. The last four games have a total game score average of 190 points per game and we get 165.5 from the bookies here. Whether either side is in the form to kick a large score is debatable. Two of the last five head to heads have been at Marvel which is where we are here. Neither team covered the line last game means the nullify each other from a betting perspective. No Bet.
AFL Betting Tips – Brisbane versus Melbourne
Brisbane hosts Melbourne in our AFL Betting Tips Sunday afternoon clash.
Brisbane is really motoring along and they had a massive win over the Saints last week. Importantly they ticked the box of winning away, something they had failed to do since Round 2. However, something they have got absolutely right is winning at home winning 5 of their 6 games (loss was Collingwood).
Melbourne on the other hand have been the biggest disappointment of 2019, From an AFL Prelim Final 2019 they have sunk to 16thspot and not looking likely. Perhaps they were really able to reset things at the mid season break. They hit back well in their first game back taking the points against the Dockers.
These 2 sides only play once a year and the Demons have won the last 3 contests including a 4 goal win in Brisbane last year. Brisbane have had a remarkable year and in a year that is looking like offering them a chance to play finals a win at home against an “also ran” is an absolute must.
…and the numbers
Last year at the Gabba was a 100-74 Melbourne win and we are at the Gabba here. Melbourne has won the last four head to head and we need to go back to 2014 for a low scoring 74-51 Brisbane win at Marvel. The last four Melbourne wins head to head have been average 22 points per game. Total game point average last three has been a high 192 point average and the last five comes down to 159 points per game. Both teams come off peak performance line covers last week which nullify each other as a betting proposition.
AFL Betting Tips – Fremantle versus Carlton
The final game of our AFL Betting Tips round 15 is Fremantle hosting Carlton.
Carlton have been able to show some sort of resurgence in their 2 games under Teague. They came from 6 goals down to beat Brisbane in his first game and came from 34 points down twice to all but beat the Bulldogs. Carlton are back from their weeks break and it’s the first real opportunity they have had an extended time to work together.
Fremantle comes off a poor loss at the hands of Melbourne. Fremantle have a great opportunity in the back half of the year and their draw really opens up and they can have a serious run at September AFL Finals. Despite injuries, taking on the bottom of the table side at home are simply games they have to win and win well.
…And the numbers
Fremantle has won the last three head to head and four of the last five. Carlton’s only win of the last five was a 4 point win in Perth in 2016. Total game score average has been a relatively low 149 points per game. Last year at Optus in Perth it was a 101-72 Freo win. There has been one 103-46 blowout Fremantle win in the last five games but the others have been mid range in the 30 point range. Cripps is out for Carlton and the line has tightened Freo way from -20.5 to -32.5 so the money flow is the Dockers way.
Carlton’s recent improvement has them on a double peak performance and we will take Fremantle here to bounce off last week’s loss.
Fremantle 1.5 unit win $1.25 and .5 unit -32.5
