iTipsports Friday Forum…the merry-go round continues…and of course, Essendon!

Friday 20th September 2013
The AFL merry-go-round is in full swing with every man and his dog in football being thrown up as a senior, head assistant or assistant Coach at a multitude of clubs. Here is our summary of state of play as we see it today and over the last fortnight:
Brisbane – the Chairman gets rid of club legend Voss because he thinks he has Roos. Roos says no so Leigh Tudor is the man, then we find out a Goodwin/Craig combo is on the cards and as it sits today Neil “I will never Coach an AFL club again…except Melbourne and now likely Brisbane” Craig looks set to get the job with club legend Leppitsch as his back up nee “succession plan”. They better hurry up and make an appointment because the rate they are going they will fill a veterans side.Port Adelaide – Rehn out, Phil Walsh in…brilliant result for Port Adelaide.
Melbourne – Roos is in the main chair…watch out for a shock Head Assistant nee Succession Plan Coach appointment. Eagles – likely to be Burns or Sumich…both safe appointments
Essendon – God who wants this gig…Bomber Thompson (no), Goodwin (no), Sheedy (no) so we are now down to former Essendon, now Crows Assistant and former Bomber player Dean Bailey. Now we now Bails is an ambitious type BUT, Bails, are you sure you want a 1 yr gig at the Bombers who might be on the verge of losing half the side to infraction notices from ASDAA??? Surely not, we know you want to strut your stuff in the main gig, you would be better off waiting for “Thunderbird” Sanderson to fall off his perch at the Crows. And last but not least…the smokey amongst all of them is Hawks Coach Alastair Clarkson. Should the Hawks get knocked off for the 12th, YES 12th time in a row by Geelong to lose ANOTHER Prelim final surely its time for Alastair Clarkson to move on!!!

And speaking of Essendon, what the hell…Doc Reid, you legend. What on earth would Hird, Thompson and Corcoran be thinking today when the Doc, amidst a Supreme Court showdown with the AFL gets all charges dropped, no fine, no suspension AND keeps his job. How Hird and Co, Hird in particular must be thinking he should have fought this all the way in the courts. Essendon is a basket case and the rumour mill is in overdrive on infraction notices on players and further ASADA charges. The AFL has kept itself out of the courts but at what price. Interesting to see if there are any changes at the AFL Brotherhood over the summer…we think so. Oh…of course we have two Prelim Finals on this weekend, forgot all about it in the midst of all the other rubbish. The Professor has a great take and betting angles on the two games. Surely Hawthorn and the Purple Haze Dockers go through.
