AFL tips finals 2018

Our AFL tips and betting had four bets for week 2 of finals for two winners as we move into the business part of the season this week in AFL finals on our way to the AFL Grand Final 2018.

We had a winning AFL tips result in Collingwood $1.60 win and -9.5 in a tight 10 point result over GWS but we missed on a lack lustre Hawthorn in its loss to Melbourne who continue their AFL finals march.

GWS…three losing finals series in a row

GWS were gallant and brave, as they were all year, in their loss to Collingwood but if you want to be critical you can as its now three failed finals campaigns in a row for this talented group. With free agency looming, how long they can keep this group together is highly questionable. We see someone like Adam Treloar go to Collingwood from GWS and play in front of 70,000 every second week and ask ourselves how many are like to go in the next 2-3 years. Dylan Shiel is the next to go and yes GWS will receive compensation in early draft pick that they can keep or trade on but only experienced players at the twilight will be going there. We see problems for GWS.

Hawthorn…out again in straight sets

The once high flying Hawks have crashed back to earth the last two weeks and the Melbourne game odds of $3.15 and +18.5 looked favourable but not to be. We expected a much stronger performance than we got and really both finals have been disappointing. The loss of Stratton and O’Meara did not help but on what we saw it would not have made a major difference. The Hawks were ok both weeks and showed competitive signs but not enough to truly challenge.

That said the scores were 44-59 half way through Q3 when Hawthorns Gunston misses a shot on the run in front to make it a 50-59. Might have been interesting, except Melbourne took the ball straight down and goaled to make it 45-65 and game over. On a final note how handy would it have been to have Cyril playing for the Hawks. They missed the four time premiership champ badly.

And to the Preliminary Finals

The AFL finals is now en route to the AFL Grand Final via the Preliminary Finals between West Coast and Melbourne and Richmond versus Collingwood. The Tigers and Pies have not met in a final since the 1981 Grand Final when Richmond toweled the Pies. 100,000 at a sell out at the G and a 60,000 sell out in Perth sets us up for a thrilling AFL Grand Final in a weeks time. The Tigers are $2 favs to win the flag, West Coast get a game at home in the cauldron, Melbourne is the momentum side and the Pies have been strong and solid all year. Teams ranked 1,2,3 and 5 to play off in the last four spots to make the AFL Grand Final. What a weekend of AFL coming up in a magnificent season.
