AFL Friday night Round 22

Melbourne versus Sydney – Friday night AFL

Our AFL Betting Tips Friday night game sees a couple of the cellar dwellers take each other on as the 17th placed Melbourne take on the 15th placed Sydney Swans. What a belter this is as both teams have lost a total of 11 games between them of the last 11 they have played.

This match has zero bearing on the AFL Finals series, as such it lacks the punch that some of the later games will deliver. Sydney have lost their last 6 matches but 4 of those games have been close margins of 2, 1, 7 and 10 points. But watching them last week after half time against Port Adelaide you just felt the dam wall had burst.

On the flip side Melbourne have been a shocker all season and at no point have they got anything going to resemble the Prelim Final side of 2018. Melbourne has lost its last five games. The soul searching has begun with Brendon McCartney stepping down at the end of the year. He has been Goodwin’s right hand man since Paul Roos left. McCartney leaving smells of fallout with McCartney the problem. High Performance Guru Darren Burgess appointed to the head fitness role add some excitement to the Dees. There is nothing like a decent fitness coach to get a side moving. Not much excitement in this one might be a good game to have a Friday night bender instead!

AFL Head to head – recent times

Melbourne won the head to head this year round four 100-78 but Sydney has won the four games prior. Average margin between the two the last five is 32 points per game with only the one close one, a 9 point Sydney win in 2018 at the MCG where we are here. Total game score average recent times between the two is 147 points on a 154.5 total game score bookie line. Neither team covered line last week so they void each other as a bet. No bet in an uninspiring game.
