CAN THE BOMBERS TURN THE TABLES

AFL Betting Tips Adelaide versus Essendon

We have another Friday Night Special to open AFL Betting Tips Round 18 it’s a crucial clash for both of these sides looking to find a top 8 spot. It is Adelaide hosting Essendon in a season defining clash.

Adelaide Crows are they back?

Adelaide smashed the Suns last week but it really gave us no indication as to whether they are “back” after a disgraceful 2nd half against the Power the week before in the Showdown. As the draw has panned out this is the first time these sides have met this year but if last week is anything to go by there could be some really high octane end to end footy!!

Essendon in improved form

Essendon are on a real role they have won 5 of their last 6 games and have won their last 3 since their disgraceful showing in the West. This is the concern for Essendon, they have lost all 3 interstate games this year by an average of 38 points. Hurley is a big out for Essendon against the Crows big forwards and Adelaide will need to curb the influence of Tipungwutti, the “Bombers Barometer”. Both of these sides sitting 9 wins and 7 losses it’s a crucial “8 point clash” with the winner pushing their credentials to a September opportunity.

AFL Betting Tips…the key numbers

Massive total game scores

Essendon won the head to head in 2018 at Marvel 99-87 in a tight won. Prior that it was all Adelaide with 4 wins on the trot and by thumping margins. Two of these four games were at Adelaide Oval and 2 were at Marvel. The total game score average over these four head to heads was a whopping 220 points per game. This would be near an AFL high average for two team head to head.

Adelaide Crows average 148 points per game

Of these four games, Adelaide kicked whopping scores in winning with an average 148 points per game. They had a game high of 171 points in a 112 point win. The average margin of these wins was 78 points. These numbers are sky high but this Adelaide side, despite last weeks big win, is not the high scoring side of years gone by. Adelaide ranks 8 points for and Essendon a low rank 11. Essendon has improved defensively from days gone by and ranks 6 in the AFL so should be able to quell an Adelaide 100+ points.

Adelaide comes off the soft training run win on the Gold Coast in a big peak whilst Essendon fell in and missed the line cover in its win over North. We will take Essendon here in a small investment noting their terrible interstate record.
Essendon 1 unit +14.5 and .5 unit $2.73 win
