Sydney Racing tips Queen Elizabeth Stakes
This race has really developed into a great race and is the primary Sydney Racing tips weight for age race for the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and in fact one of the best weight for age races in the country. The race is over 2000m and worth prize money of a whopping $4million. It is the Sydney Racing tips version of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival Cox Plate.
The race began in 1851 it was known as “The Queens Plate” however after the visit of Queen Elizabeth in 1954 it was renamed the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
The mighty mare Winx is attempting to do what not many horses have done before. She is looking to win her third Queen Elizabeth Stakes and this has only ever been done by the great Carbine (1889, 1890, 1891) Trafalgar (1909,1910, 1912), David (1921, 1922,1923) and Tulloch ( 1958,1960,1961). It is company that Winx sits very comfortably in.
The Queen Elizabeth is a great race as part of the Sydney Racing tips Autumn Carnival and horses come through lead ups The Ranvet, Doncaster and George Ryder. All have all been good lead up races historically and under the weight for age scale the 3 year olds who have contested the Rosehill Guineas and starred there generally elect to take up the option and tackle this race…when Winx isn’t present of course!
Winx is a very short Sydney Racing tips market $1.07 favourite followed by He’s Eminent and Happy Clapper $17 with Hartnell $21.
The Sydney Cup over 3200m
The Sydney Cup as part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival The Championships is clearly the premier staying event but truth be known it is a race that as a rule lacks class despite the $2 million on offer.
There is no doubt that the Melbourne Cup is a race that captures the imagination of the Racing world but in real terms there is a massive drop in class to the other 3200m races like the Sydney Cup. It is a race that is generally won by the “true” stayer a grinding one paced sort of horse as opposed to the Melbourne Cup these days which is a sit sprint affair for the horse with a turn of foot. The honour roll is not littered with champions winning the Sydney Cup with the exception of course of the great Makybe Diva (2004) and the Mighty Kingston Town.
That being said its still a great spectacle to watch and generally the race is run on a rain affected track at that time of year you can really sense the true staying test that is the Sydney Cup, as horses and riders urge each other over the final 400m.
Without question the key lead up race and form guide to the Sydney Cup is run the week before on Week 1 of Sydney Racing tips The Championships and it’s a Group 2 race over 2600m called The Chairmans Handicap. There have been 5 horses to win “the double” whilst many other winners have been placed/run well in the Chairman’s to go on and win the Sydney Cup.
The Sydney Cup market has Dubeh $4.50 favourite with Big Duke, Midterm and Ted Carnival on second line of betting at $8. There are 7 runners 12-1 or under making this a very competitive Sydney Cup.
Australian Oaks for the 3 year old fillies
The Australian Oaks is a Group 1 race for 3 year old fillies over the 2400m it’s the premier stayong event for 3YO during the Autumn Carnival.
There are two key lead up races to the oaks they are the Vinery stud stakes run 2 weeks before at Rosehill or the Adrian Knox over 2000m run the week before the oaks on Doncaster Day. There is also possibly horses to avoid from a betting perspective as in the last 27 years there have only been 4 horses to win the oaks who didn’t race in Sydney at the start before the oaks 3 of those were New Zealanders the other had raced in Adelaide.
In recent times the Australian Oaks hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for favourite punters with just two of the last ten favourites being successful and the Sydney Racing tips market this year has Verry Elleegant is a raging $2.00 favourite followed by Frankely Awesome $5.50, Aristia $8.50 and five horses on $10 including Nakeeta Jane, El Dorado Dreaming and Pohutukawa.
Sydney Racing tips Coolmore Legacy Stakes
This race formerly known as The Queen Of The Turf Stakes was run at Rosehill over 1500m until 2014 when it was moved to help build the Sydney Racing tips The Championships.
The Coolmore Legacy stakes is now run over 1600m at Royal Randwick racecourse and recent history shows it’s a nice race for favourites with 10 of the last 18 winners being the top pick although four of these have started under $4. They are More Joyous (won it twice at $1.50 and $1.25), Typhoon Tracey, Divine Madonna and Mnemosyne.
The first lady of Australian Racing Gai Waterhouse has won the Coolmore Legacy Stakes a whopping seven times.
Without doubt the two key lead in races for the mares are The Emancipation (1500m) and also The Coolmore Classic (1500m). In the Sydney Racing tips Coolmore market Alizee, Dixie Blossoms, Unforgotten and Amphitrite loom as the main chances.
