GEELONG – WOBBLY AND NO LONGER AFL FLAG FAVOURITES
It was a big +18.5 and $3.00 AFL Betting Tips win for subscribers when Fremantle bounced off recent poor performances to beat Geelong in an excellent AFL Betting result. Geelong was the side who had been the raging AFL Premiership favourite in our AFL Betting Tips season have lost 4 of their last 7 matches. As a result they are in danger of missing a top 2 spot if their mediocre form continues.
Geelong earlier in the year could seemingly do no wrong winning 11 of 12 before the break. But since then they have performed average at best and they looked slow and lacked hunger when they got towelled up by a young Fremantle side.
Geelong – midfield guns down on form
From 20 points up it was a 54 point turn around to lose by 34 points. Ablett had 17 possessions, Dangerfield 16 and Selwood 15. That is 48 possessions and about half the output you would normally expect. Hawkins had 3 goals at Q1 time and that was it for the game. Kelly was really the only mid that you would say performed at the level you would like.
Geelong – straight kicking gone missing
Geelong was able to paper over a lot of cracks early in the year with very accurate goal kicking and they won many games purely on efficiency. However when that statistic reverts more to the “mean” they have become exposed.
Geelong – where to from here
The natives are getting restless at Geelong and looking for a form reversal and very quickly. The Cats now face a resurgent North, high flying Brisbane away and Carlton at home. They should win 2 of the 3 so top spot is far from safe but will be able to retain a top 4 spot. Whether that is a home final remains to be seen. Geelong has now slipped from a short priced AFL Grand Final and Premiership favourite to the third line of betting at $4.50 behind Richmond and West Coast. The Cats are under serious pressure but have the talent to get it back together. That would have to start this week for the season to recover.
Fremantle – a big +18.5 and $3.00 win result for us
We love Ross Lyon and he is easily the most entertaining AFL Coach. They should sell tickets to his post game press conferences, they are magic. “I hear the noise around the club but I am not on Twitter and Instagram. I read The Australian and The Financial Review and that’s it”. No other Coach would put this up, it is music to ears.
Fremantle have had a difficult year and there are all sorts of murmurings about their coach Ross Lyon and his continued tenure or otherwise at the Dockers. They are still a very slim AFL Finals 2019 hope and no doubt the fans were happy to see some more of their younger talent on display on the weekend. It was an excellent AFL Betting Tips result for us at $3.00 and +18.5 in a big bounce performance on the Human Behaviour Model.
