Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival 2017 Stable Stars
Welcome to the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival Our man on the ground Brisbane based Blaazing Ben Perkins has had his nose to the grindstone doing the form and looking at the Futures markets for the big Carnival.
The races we have focussed on at this point is the Group 1 $1.5 million Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm Racecourse on June 10 and prior this the 2000m Doomben Cup at Doomben Racecourse on May 20. As the Carnival unfolds, we will also focus on the Queensland Derby, Queensland Oaks and the TJ Smith Stakes.
Now the Futures Market is not for everyone and is high risk. Form changes, scratchings are amongst the key issues in backing a horse today for the future but if we crack one (as we did with Jameka at $40 last Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, then it can bring great rewards.
Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival Tip 1:
STRADBROKE HANDICAP – SAT 10 JUNE, EAGLE FARM
The favourite for the Stradbroke Handicap, to be held at Eagle Farm Racecourse is the talented Black Heart Bart and it is currently 10-1 the field. This is a super rqce and we should get a nice feel on the main chances in the lead up races.
The Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival 2017 Newmarket Handicap winner Redkirk Warrior was an early acceptor but appears is a scratching.
This is likely because of potential soft tracks. Fabrizio is the early second favourite and heads our list of early Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival Stable Stars ahead of a list of $20 plus chances. The Doomben Cup is held at Doomben Racecourse and is a feature mid distance staying race over 2000m. There are two equal favourites at present for the Doomben Cup, Its Somewhat and Articus. Its Somewhat was the brilliant winner of the Doncaster Mile at Randwick Racecourse during the Sydney Autumn Winter Carnival 2017. It’s Somewhat won nicely Saturday 6 May at the Gold Coast and appears to be in the peak of form for this race.
