We are working through the review of Round 23 AFL tips and some broader commentary about the upcoming AFL finals and will be with you Wednesday, Thursday latest.

AFL tips round 23 we had a nice result with Fremantle on a 2 unit strong bet +34.5 line pushing Collingwood in a 67-76 loss and oh so close to a nice $5.50 win. Adelaide smashed the terrible Carlton by 104 points on a -44.5 line and Hawthorn was a terrific result in a high quality game defeating the Swans in a 3 unit Best Bet +9.5 and $2.20 win.

Richmond…back to back looking good

Richmond finished the 2018 home and away season on top of the table and the first time they have done so since the early 1980’s. They finished the season with two close games, which we think holds them in good stead playing tight games as against blow out games. They are in good shape and tackle the Hawks in the Thursday Qualifying Final. The Tigers are in terrific shape as a $2.35 AFL Grand Final premiership quote.

Collingwood and Hawthorn…2018 big improvers

Both of these two have had remarkable year on year improvement to finish in the AFL finals top 4 of the AFL tips 2018 season. These two finished 12th and 13th in 2017 and are to be congratulated on this effort, holding our long held view that each year two new teams go in and two teams go out of the AFL finals year on year. Collingwood travel to West Coast who finished second on the AFL table with its win over Brisbane and Hawthorn now play Richmond. Hawks Coach Clarkson surely goes down as one of the all time great AFL coaches, if not already there. There is an argument for Buckley to be Coach of the Year, given this time last year he was all but gone. 10/10 for holding your nerve Bucks!

Geelong…2 x 100 point wins in a row

Geelong has creamed Fremantle and Gold Coast by 100 points each in consecutive games to finish eighth on the table to make this years AFL Finals. Whilst the wins were impressive and good for confidence, they are hardly ideal for what is coming in the pressure cooker of finals football. Geelong goes into the AFL Finals with basically two training run games and a bye!

Melbourne, GWS and Sydney

These three teams round out the AFL Finals top 8. Melbourne had an impressive win over GWS and at their best, the Demons can do some damage. GWS has been both very good and brave in the second half of the season and gets many players back from injury for its game against Sydney Swans in an all Sydney Elimination Final. Melbourne will front Geelong and likely start a warm favourite.

AFL Grand Final premiership odds:
Richmond $2.35
West Coast $7
Collingwood, Hawthorn $8
Melbourne $10
Geelong $12
Sydney $16
GWS $18

And to the also rans…

Ten teams have missed the AFL finals 2018. On 12 wins and 48 points were North, Essendon and spectacularly Port missed out after being 11-4 and Adelaide after being in the AFL Grand Final 2017. Bulldogs and Fremantle were on 32 points, Brisbane 20, Gold Coast 16 and Carlton stone last on 8 points and 2 wins for the year. We will provide a full wrap to the season for non finals sides over this weekend.
