This horse looks a MASSIVE price, it has had big excuses at its last 3 runs and first up was super. Two of last three runs has been 3 wide no cover and the start before was BADLY held up in the straight the horse really is flying and the 10 year old looks a big overs play.

The message here is be a forgiving punter! What we mean here is look a bit deeper as to why a horse may have an 8 next to its name. this horse had NO LUCK its last 3 runs but in general punters don’t dig deeper they see its placing in a race and rule it out so lets have a deeper look at the numerical placing of this horse and what actually happened to it in the run. 3 starts ago finished 4th and arguably should’ve won, the horse was held up from the home turn to the 150m mark and charged when clear so that 4 could easily be a 1.
2 starts ago jumped from 1000m to 1100m and was 3 wide NO COVER meaning it punched into the wind the whole way-this is the most difficult position in a race where you do the most work and you actually run further of course than the horses on the rail -not surprisingly weakened out of it running 6th but it was an absolute put a pen through it run!
Last start dropped back to the 1050m but once again was 3 wide NO COVER working hard the pleasing thing was it didn’t give big ground in the run home which indicated it was almost at peak fitness 4 runs back-when a horse is wide and fights on hard you know its at its peak. However it ran 8th.
Form analysis the key
So essentially its form line read 4-6-8 (4th, 6th, 8th) so in general punters think the horse is going worse every run and it cant possibly win. However the form should have read is 1st, forgive run, forgive run when you look at the race through this lens and you can see the market was mispricing its true ability.
When you couple that with the horse reaching peak fitness along with putting a senior rider on who has a great record with the trainer you can very easily make a case for its winning chances.
