It is Geelong Cup day in Wednesday Racing Tips and a major feature race as a lead in event to the Melbourne Cup. The Geelong Cup is over 2400m and has prizemoney of $500,000 and is a Group 3 event. Many of the runners are here to gain entry to the Melbourne Cup as they have not qualified at this stage. It is a BUMPER 10 race programme and as well as the Cup also features the Geelong Classic. A capacity field of 17 will compete in this race looking to the path to glory of the Melbourne Cup.

This former European has failed to live up to expectations, however from a starting price perspective NOW may be the time to dive in. Started $9 in Group 1 Turnbull last run got warm late and before that had been in Group 2 and Group 3 company at $4.40 highest price. We like the blinkers going on and the extra trip. We have been against this horse all the way through (rightly so) time for us to give it a chance today

Worth a save play here another former European with the Maher stable seems to have acclimatised better than our top pick but has only had the 3 runs!! Really pinned the ears back and chased hard in the Bart Cummings a repeat effort would be hard to beat here
