COX PLATE ITS GOING TO BE EQUINE WAR!!!
Well the stage is set, the previews are complete and if they are what we have to go on this could well be one of the BEST Cox Plates we have EVER seen. The battle of I’m Thunderstruck, Zaaki and Anamoe had in the lead up Group 1 Might and Power was extraordinary. Sure Anamoe looked CLEARLY to have the most upside but it was concerning that he didn’t handle Caulfield. The Valley is FAR Trickier so there are no guarantees HOWEVER was beaten here a nose last year same race!!!
Zaaki was the scratched Cox Plate fav last year there is unfinished business. I’m Thunderstruck has shown he will be in for the fight when the whips are cracking he dug in with real courage.
Alligator Blood has been an alarming drifter after his poor effort last start ($7 out to $18) it wouldn’t surprise to see him run very well. Then there is the unknown of the international’s El Bodegon at $9. Its holding strong as the 4th pick in the market it could be the real surprise packet.
it’s a MUST NOT MISS RACE the 2022 Cox Plate at the Valley can’t wait for Saturday.
SPRING CHAMPION STAKES RANDWICK
IT’S A WIDE OPEN RACE….
It’s a real converging of the Sydney and Melbourne form lines as the 3YO’s do battle in the Spring Champion. The top 4 placegetters from the Caulfield Guineas hold 4 of the top 5 spots in the market punctuated by the Gloaming Stakes winner Sharp n Smart.
History says that the Sydney 3YO form is generally superior but that theory is set to be tested here. The Guineas winner Golden Mile looks suspect at the 2000m but Elliptical, Osipenko and Berkely Square (top 3 in market) ALL look like they are screaming for the trip here.
The Sydney way of going is a bit of a query however for these horses and although they all look like getting the trip you never really know until they do. Normally at this stage of the year we see a STANDOUT 3 year old at this sort of distance range. We haven’t seen that yet but someone will put their hand up on Saturday and announce they have arrived.
