Caulfield Cup Boilover
Well the BIG races from last weekend were a graveyard for many. In the first year they have emergencies for the Caulfield Cup an Emergency UNBELIVEABLY wins it. Durston had a great run in transit, he was a touch keen but off the fence at the right time and powered through the line. The Melbourne Cup is not off the table.
Black Bookers from the race were VOW AND DECLARE looking for its second Melbourne Cup has had a faultless preparation and trapped wide in the Caulfield Cup and still there fighting at the end. It was a good trial and tightened from $26 onto $17.
A RIPING run was Montefilia, she is a horse we have spruiked since August and it all looks on track. She has had one aim the first Tuesday in November Melbourne Cup and she tightened from $41 in some markets to $17.
Gold Trip was another that is a shortener for the Melbourne Cup having run second in the Caulfield Cup beaten 0.2 length and is now 17-1 in line of betting.
The Everest Boilover
What a race The Everest was and what a day this has turned into. In the space of 5 or 6 years its quite extraordinary what this race has done. The atmosphere was electric the result extraordinary and it put a race that has been around for over 150 years in the shade (Caulfield Cup). Gigi Kick was the most unlikely of winners, only having its 5th race start the slot holders took an amazing gamble to select this horse. Sure it looked an up and comer but it was a BIG TIME gamble that has paid huge dividends.
J-Mac got it wrong on Nature Strip
The race itself it was impossible to see Gigi Kick winning in the run it was 7-8 lengths off the “Best” sprinter in the world Nature Strip and picked it up like it was standing still. This 3yo most certainly has an exciting future. James McDonald simply got the race wrong on the fav, he was caught 3 wide with reasonable pressure was a sitting duck. He needed to push the button earlier to cross BUT all that said this race is now second only to the Melbourne Cup from an interest perspective.
