Saturday Racing Tips – last weeks review
Victoria Handicap winner Mr Quickie
He drew the car park but Mr Quickie turned in a brilliant run to take the Victoria Handicap. Mr Quickie was the top selection from our Expert Melbourne Racing Tips analyst Pete Brinky and won in great style. Jockey Ben Melham is now unbeaten on the horse winning 4 form 4! He had to go back to last raced 3 wide cover then from the 600 was pushed 5 and 6 deep. He really charged in the straight and very brave last 100m saw him stick the head out to win. It looks like he may push on to the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival with a shot at the Stradbroke Handicap. Black booker is Galaxy Raider who was the run of the race taking 4-5 lengths off the winner last 250m looks a coming winner
Hang Man made it back to back cup wins taking the Easter Cup on the back of the Yarra Valley Cup win. In what turned out to be a bit of a blessing on the day the shocking draw wasn’t a disadvantage as the track bias did lend to a run on down the middle bias. Tracking up was the fav Persan was the perfect ride and had a nice turn of foot over the last 200m. Connections now keen to head to the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival with the Doomben Cup the aim.
Sydney Vinery Stakes winner Hungry Heart
Sydney Racing Tips analyst Blaazing Ben Perkins had Hungry Heart as second selection for the Vinery. Waller has Hungry Heart well and truly back on track with back to back Group wins. It was an extraordinary performance settling a long way back with a hot speed on but when McEvoy got her going she really unloaded strongly the last 100m a titanic battle. Harmony Rose was an enormous run and still there at the end. Hungry Heart will now head to the Group 1 ATC Oaks
Sydney Racing Tancred Stakes and Sir Dragonet
Sir Dragonet joined elite company taking the Cox Plate /Tancred Stakes double joining Octagonal, Makybe Diva, Might and Power, Bonecrusher Kingston Town and Octagonal. Now that is the very elite of elite of Australian Racing. It was the perfect ride and the horse relished the 7 day back up, he came on in leaps and bounds from a fitness perspective had the perfect midfield fence run and put them away. Sir Dragonet now heads to the Queen Elizabeth Stakes to take on Verry Elleegant and Addayeb in what promises to be the race of the carnival.
Sydney Racing Group 2 races review
Can Yaletown follow the “pattern” to give Gai Waterhouse her first ATC Derby. The past 4 Derby winners have all won the Tulloch Stakes before going on to win the Derby. Yaletown was the top select of Sydney Racing Tips analyst Blaazing Ben Perkins.
It was a big win by Nimalee in the Emancipation Stakes, the horse has some nice fitness upside to come out of that run and is headed to the Group 1 Coolmore Legacy. The horse had 6 weeks between runs, and enjoyed a nice trip in behind the lead got the run and too good. Rich Hips once again was the run of the race and sites at $26 for the Coolmoore in a couple of weeks time.
