AFL Betting Tips – we review Round 3 AFL 2021

We had 4 bets on the weekend for 2 wins and 2 losses in AFL Betting Tips Round 3. AFL Betting winners were Crows in their win over Gold Coast on a +2.5 line and Carlton in a big win -16.5 and $1.45 win over Fremantle. We missed on GWS whilst challenging in the last quarter went down to Melbourne and Richmond who were beaten badly against a resurgent Sydney Swans. After 2 rounds of AFL 2021, we are looking closely at the trends for the season as we apply our HBM Human Behaviour Model in creating AFL betting opportunities for this season.

AFL Round 3 Highlights

The key continued trend is the high scoring and free ball movement that is occurring as a result of the rule changes. The results of this are key forwards kicking plenty of goals and big chains of unbroken goal runs of teams that get a run on. Scoring is harder to stop as the ball is moving quicker and the best example of this is the Sydney Swans. Seen as a defensive team, the young Swans are now applying this defense as a springboard to attack. They have kicked 100+ points in all 3 games this year and 121 points per game average points for.

Essendon and Carlton both got their first wins of the season and in emphatic style. That said Carlton’s was against an injury filled Freo and Essendon against a very ordinary St Kilda. Both are peak performances and the jury will be out this week on both teams.

GWS and St Kilda both had poor losses and look in trouble. GWS has not recovered from its poor 2019 Grand Final loss and would appear to be in a world of pain. St Kilda and Coach Ratten were lauded as big improvers for this AFL 2021 season after last year but right this second that appears to have gone pear shaped.

Sydney and Melbourne both sit 3-0 at the top of the table both with 3 game peak performances and at this point are on track to make AFL Finals 2021. Very few pundits had these two sides making the finals and are vastly improved on 2020. Our peak performance modelling will likely see these 2 sides face some pressure in coming weeks.

Port Adelaide was thumped by West Coast in the west and a classic case of the Power side “getting ahead of themselves”. Under their leadership they have a happy knack of doing so. Brisbane got home with a goal after the siren, the Bulldogs go on their merry way at 3-0 and top of table. The Crows got a home win as we head to AFL Betting Tips Round 4.
