The Everest 2019

SYDNEY RACING TIPS THE EVEREST

The feature race of the Sydney Spring Racing Tips Carnival is known as “The Richest race on Turf” held at Randwick racecourse. The Everest will see twelve of the fastest horses on earth race for an extraordinary $14 million in prize money. It will be the focus of our Expert Sydney Saturday Racing Tips with our analyst Blaaxing Ben Perkins. This is the third running of The Everest and has been won back to back by Redzel. The race is supported by “The Kosciusko” also a feature sprint but is restricted only to New South Wales “country” trained horses. The Everest Racing Tips meeting also includes the Group 3 Sydney Stakes and the Group 3 Craven Plate.

THE EVEREST – BACKGROUND

The Everest is the richest race on turf in the world and is in its third year of running. It was the brainchild of the CEO of Racing NSW and was modelled off the Pegasus World Cup in the U.S. The way it works is there are 12 “slots” that are sold for $600,000 each. This allows each slot holder to choose the horse they want to run in the slot. This can mean some serious wheeling and dealing by both connections and slot holders to get a horse into the race with the best chance to share in the spoils. It is a unique way of forming a race field and has generated massive media interest and speculation as to the best horses that slot holders should be courting. The race has been held twice with both races won by the mighty Redzel.

THE EVEREST RACING TIPS ODDS

It is currently $4.50 the field in the Sydney Racing Tips The Everest betting market as follows:
$4.50 Santa Ana Lane
$5.00 Arcadia Queen
$6.00 Piereta
$11.00 Redzel
$15.00 Sunlight, Alizee
$18.00 Classique Legend
$23.00 Brutal
$26.00 Trekking, In Her Time

SYDNEY RACING TIPS – THE KOSCIUSKO

This is the little brother of “The Everest” it’s the worlds richest race for country trained horses only worth $1.3 million. It is quite a different method of gaining entry into this race though where racing NSW are in joint venture with the AHA and TAB and they sell $5 sweep tickets which are drawn to determine the slot holder, this means any everyday Joe blow can own a slot for $5 should they win the draw, rather than the $600k needed for the Everest. The slot holders then go about choosing the horse they want to race for them which can make doing the form a bit of a nightmare. For this race no surprise a $71 pop Belflyer won the inaugural running in 2018.

SYDNEY RACING TIPS – SYDNEY STAKES GROUP 3

The Sydney Stakes is a Group 3 race run over 1200m under WFA conditions, it sees the sprinters below the topline fight it out on a day when the big guns are in The Everest. Formerly the Lightning Handicap the race was renamed in 2017. Pierata won the race last year and has kicked on since then to be a Group 1 winner.

SYDNEY RACING TIPS – CRAVEN PLATE GROUP 3

The Craven Plate is a Group 3 WFA event run over 2000m. It is the last WFA race of the Sydney Racing tips Spring Carnival and suits those who are not contesting the feature Group 1 events over the middle distance range like the Epsom Handicap or the Metropolitan. The race has received a nice stake money boost this year as the Sydney Racing Tips Spring Carnival really makes a play for some serious focus during the Melbourne Racing Tips Spring Carnival.
