Caulfield Cup winner 2020 – Verry Elleegant

Saturday Racing Tips – review last week

Saturday Racing Tips last week was a challenging day for Caulfield Cup and The Everest meetings as we count down toward Melbourne Cup 2020 week. Melbourne Racing Tips with Pete Brinky landed 5 winners including the Verry Elleegant and Anthony Van Dyck in the Caulfield Cup. Other winners from Melbourne Racing Tips was Power Scheme in the first of the day, Endanger 4-1, Wild Planet 5-1 and Madam Rouge out to a nice 10-1 value chance ($5 rated price) in the last. Salto Angel was a nice 18-1 overlay value price running second (rated price 10-1) in race 5.

In Sydney Racing Tips with Blaazing Ben Perkins we had Classique Legend a top select and 2 unit Strong Bet winning The Everest at Randwick. We got off to a good start with Captivant winning race 1 at 8-1. Late in the day Fun Fact bounced back from a third as a Best Bet last week to win at Randwick as a value chance at 17-1 (rated 10-1).

Melbourne Racing Tips Caulfield Cup – a Verry Elleegant winner

We scored the quinella in the Melbourne Racing Tips Caulfield Cup with our second selection Verry Elleegant the winner at 5-1 and second placed international Anthony Van Dyke, our top selection finishing second.

Verry Elleegant gave Chris Waller his first Caulfield Cup win. It was a gem of a ride by Zahra, the mare was a bit aggressive early wanting to over race. He got her to settle somewhat but she was still a bit keen. He got her into the 3 wide trailing position at exactly the right time and on the turn she looked the one. She showed a will to win, digging in hard and strong through the line holding off the international raider Anthony Van Dyke.

She now heads to the Melbourne Cup and is a $10 chance, but she is a risk. She is every chance to over race in the big one with the slower tempo and over 3200m you just can’t do that. Finche was a huge run in the race, was basically 3 wide no cover the trip and fought like a bulldog to the line and a very nice run from a Melbourne Cup perspective and at $21 looks a big price. The runner up Anthony Van Dyke was a nice run and likely improvement into the Cup is $11. The old campaigner Prince Of Arran ran a bottler settling back and really finding the line and is $15 for the Melbourne Cup.

Sydney Racing Tips The Everest – a Classique Legend win

Our Expert Sydney Racing Tips analyst Blaazing Ben Perkins had Classique Legend as has top selection and a 2 unit Strong Bet for The Sydney Racing Tips The Everest.

It was simply breathtaking the performance of Classique Legend to take out the $15 Million The Everest over the 1200m at Royal Randwick racecourse. Kieran McEvoy has remarkably ridden 3 of the first 4 The Everest’s a script you couldn’t write! But the story of the day was Les Bridge an 82 year old who has spent his life in racing has only now found his best horse ever. Its remarkable to think this horse was bound for Hong Kong earlier this year. There ended up being problems so the horse was sent back to Les and what a job he has done.

Really the race was never in doubt there was crazy tearaway speed by Eduardo and McEvoy although a long way back never panicked. When he hit the button BANG the grey flash went, it put 3 lengths on Libertini in 50 metres and was eased down for a big win.

Victoria Oaks – Chica Fuerta in Oaks lead up win

Chica Fuerte moved into $6 second fav for the Melbourne Racing Tips Victoria Oaks for the 3rd day of the Melbourne Cup Spring Racing Carnival week with an all the way win in the Ethereal Stakes. It was a great front running ride by Melham, really dictated and accelerated at the right times. However there were some nice runs behind her from an Oaks perspective who may be better value.

Succeed Indeed was the run of the race sat 3 wide no cover then 4 wide no cover on a very windy Caulfield day. Kept finding the line hard really liked the effort is $12 for the Oaks. Salto Angel had a cushy run in behind the speed had a bit of a flat spot turning but found the line strongly and the big Flemington track should suit is $8 and trained by star staying trainer Danny O’Brien. The other two who settled back and found the line were Starelle ($14) and really liked the run of Café Rizu it looks a big price at $23.

Victoria Derby – query lead up form

Albarado was very brave taking out the Melbourne Racing Tips Neds Classic but with 5 horses finishing within a length of each other there could be a query over the form. Albarado was clearly the run of the race, was 3 wide no cover then 4 wide no cover widest on the turn and kept digging in hard. It is the $6 fav for the Victoria Derby on the opening of the Melbourne Cup Spring Racing Carnival week. There were certainly no excuses for the beaten brigade, but possibly the one putting its hand up for the Derby was Hit The Shot. Having just its 4th race start he really got into his work late and was the best horse to find the line and was slashed from $26 into $7 second fav for the Victoria Derby.

Melbourne Racing Tips – Madam Rouge heading to Group 1

Madam Rouge powered home to win the Melbourne Racing Tips Tristarc Stakes and in doing so firmed strongly in the market for the Group 1 Empire Rose on Derby Day from $34 into $13. Madam Rouge was the third selection for the last of the day at Caulfield from Expert Melbourne Racing Tips analyst Pete Brinky. She had put the writing on the wall as we put her out as the horse to follow 2 runs ago, she then competed at Group 1 level and was found out against open class opposition, but back to her own sex very suited. Chris Waller also said that the “soft” track was not 100% to her liking either so there is likely improvement to come out of the run. Her racing style would also suggest that the expanses of Flemington will suit so she will head there Derby Day on the opening of Melbourne Cup week with an undeniable chance.
