RICHMOND VS CARLTON
The traditional AFL round 1 season opener for the first time in a long while seems somewhat evenly keeled. Carlton snapped the 8 game losing streak in this season opener with a nice 4 goal win last year. That would be somewhat of a pre cursor to an improved year although they still missed the finals! Richmond is a very interesting commodity this season. They scraped into the 8 last year exited in the opening week of the finals but this is a make or break year as far as the immediate future is concerned.
Both sides produced VERY ordinary practice matches leading in with almost 50 point losses. That said it was hard to get a read on where they are at. The overarching questions remain which are was that a one year “spike” by the Blues or can there be some type of sustained level of effort. For the Tigers is it the end of the dynasty, there on last roll of the dice OR the start of a rebuild.
This game is even money from our view, -5.5 Richmond with the bookies and we have no lean. Our Total Game Score is 162.5 with the bookies at 171.5 so slight edge to the UNDER but we have no firm bets on the game.
