We look back over the key lead in races to the Golden Slipper in 2023, the worlds richest 2 year old race. The Golden Slipper will be the key focus of Sydney Racing Tips from iTipsports Pro analyst Blaazing Ben Perkins. To be held at Rosehill racecourse the Golden Slipper has prize money of $5 million. Todman Stakes and and Riesling Stakes

SPOT ON is how you could describe the two wins by Cylinder (Todman) and Learning To Fly (Riesling) in their lead up to the Golden Slipper. Learning to Fly kept her favouritism ($4) after REALLY digging in when challenged. She worked early and dug in late to remain undefeated and on target. Cylinder showed it’s on the upward trajectory and some upside still there. Sat outside the hot fav Red Resistance and really pinned the ears back to get the upper hand. It was a GREAT win and there is still more there, he was slashed from $9 into $4.50 second pick…..shapes to be a crackerBlack Opal Stakes

Gai Waterhouse created history with Autumn Ballet taking out the Black Opal at its debut run. No horse prior to that win had ever won the Black Opal on debut. Another first starter was HEAVILY backed in the race Tiz Invincible. It was racing deep the winner got a lovely run in transit and too powerful. It seems that it will now head to the Percy Sykes stakes on 8th April.

Pago Pago Stakes

It was a BIG win by Shinzo in the Pago Pago and will back up in next week’s Golden Slipper. Appreciated being ridden cold still looks like will be a much better 3yo but the way it won covering ground from back and savaging the line was a great Slipper trial. There was a roughie Godzilla who found the line well prob misses the Slipper but runs well in the Sires.

Magic Night Stakes

Steel City did what many had hoped would do in the Blue Diamond. after having ZERO luck in the Diamond that win in the Magic Night stamped it as one that could be in the Golden Slipper finish. Barrier draw is crucial, has tactical speed and nice and strong. Another run out of the race was Blanc De Blanc NO LUCK again with terrible gate but finding the line well.
