The defending premiers Geelong shape up against the real surprise packet of 2022 Collingwood in Round 1 AFL Friday Night Football. Truth be told a bounce this way or that way and it very much could have been Collingwood as the 2022 Premiers. These two sides played one of the most epic finals in a while last year the Cats scraping home by 6 points. Collingwood then would then by 1 point to the Swans.
So many questions to answer here the Cats who took SO long to ascend the mountain from their 2011 premiership do they have the ability to dig in and do it again. It would be a brave man to tip against them as they have so much talent. It will be the mental aspect that will determine their path.
Where are the Pies at…was it a one year spike under a new coach with some young talent having career best years? Or is that simply a new ground level from Collingwood to launch another assault in 2023?

Very hard to get a read on these two sides from the practice match as well, Collingwood scraping home in a very unimpressive win against the lowly Hawks and Geelong an almost 50 point drubbing at the hands of the likely Lions.
