In comes the saviour ex Hawthorn coach Alistair Clarkson…and fresh of the alleged dramas surrounding some first nations players and families from his Hawthorn days. Clarkson is a 4 time premiership coach with the Hawks and his presence should see some level of immediate improvement in competitiveness. Certainly it could not get worse given the last 2 years debacle. What talent at North Clarkson has to work with is debatable and they will most likely be a work in progress that may be able to sneak early wins. Clarkson did take a basket case club in Hawthorn in 2005 and turned them around. However the talent at the Hawks in those days far exceeds what he has at North. Todd Viney, whilst a mate of Clarkson’s might be able to reign him in (as needed to happen with the altercation with the female journo). Enough of Clarkson, does North have talent…we are about to find out! North is as is Hawthorn at the foot of the premership odds table with 150-1 to win the AFL flag, 5-1 for the Grand Final, 34-1 to top 4 an 15-1 for the finals which is WAAAY to short!
