There appears to be an internal expectation by the Adelaide Crows and its supporters that there will be top line improvement in 2023 and that finals perhaps are beckoning. We are not quite sure how there is this realisation by all and sundry. There was improvement last year without doubt but the line “youngest squad” whilst true is wearing thin. Certainly Adelaide has ability in its forward line and can score. However their midfield lacks pace and the defense looks vulnerable. Rankine coming in improves them but he is not a bona fide mid, he is a small forward. So they can score with Walker, Roschelle, Rankine, Fogarty and Thilthorpe BUT will get scored against. The Crows will be fit as highly rated High Performance Manager Darren Burgess gets a second go at a pre season with them so a winning start may be possible. Its mid and back end of season that looks the problem. The Crows are 67-1 to win the AFL premiership, 34-1 to make the AFL Grand Final, 13-1 to make the top 4 and a somewhat interesting $4.50 to make the Finals.
