Carlton lost two unlosable games at the end of AFL season 2022 to throw away their first finals appearance for many a year. This all under first time coach Brisbane legend Michael Voss. We have no doubt Voss’s legend drove the Blues players to greater heights and they were highly motivated and played with great spirit. There is a strong expectation based on last year that there will be natural improvement by the Blues given the strength of their list and the way they missed out on finals. This may be true BUT it is also priced into the Blues futures pricing around expectation.
Voss is very demanding and rightly so BUT if you draw a line with what happened at Brisbane when he coached them, there must be some risk that history repeats itself. They do have talent BUT the expectations will be HIGH and if the Blues have a dip expect the blowtorch to be applied on all fronts. How Voss handles this will be critical to Carlton in managing expectations. The Blues have talent but can they harness it is the question. Carlton is 10-1 to win the AFL Flag, 5-1 to make the Grand Final, $3.00 to make the top 4 and $1.55 to make the 8…we see these odds as way too skinny.
