A textbook ride from Craig Williams earnt Behemoth a well earned Group 1 in the Melbourne Racing Tips Memsie Stakes last Saturday at Caulfield. Behemoth was our Expert Melbourne Racing Tips analyst Pete Brinky top selection in our Saturday Racing Tips. Behemoth was a 2 unit Strong Bet and we are now off and Racing for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2020.

Behemoth – strong in the run

Behemoth lobbed just in behind the pace and Williams was out at the right time, it had appeared to be a run on type track but this horse was good near the speed. He was strong through the line but he is probably more forward than some of these horses fitness wise but he still looked good. The stable are talking a Toorak Handicap but not ruling out a Cox Plate but you would doubt he has the pedigree to go strong 2000m WFA.

Memsie Stakes – other runners on the upside

Mr Quickie was an excellent run from the back unleashed some nice sectionals in the run home. He is sure to be the one to beat in the Makybe Diva in 2 weeks time and whatever else the stable wish to target, Cox Plate included. Cascadian was probably the run of the race. It came from last and the real eye catcher out of the race. If they head to the Makybe Diva next start look out. The 3 year old Glennfiddich was full of guts near the pace and is well and truly on target for a crack at the Melbourne Racing Tips Caulfield Guineas in the middle of October.

Caulfield Melbourne Racing Memsie runners – on the downside

The shockers out of the race were the two All Star Mile winners, Mystic Journey and Regal Power. Both settled just off the pace and weakening in the straight. The vet reports will be interesting with this pair. Of the others Harlem was noticed poking through late under its own steam and worthy of a look after its next run and Begood Toya Mother also put in a nice run at odds.
