Melbourne McKinnon Stakes Day review

Arcadia Queen wins the McKinnon Stakes

Melbourne Cup Week – McKinnon Stakes Day review

The Melbourne Cup Carnival Week came to a close with McKinnon Stakes Day for Melbourne Saturday Racing Tips last week. Arcadia Queen was a brilliant Melbourne Racing Tips Best Bets winner of the McKinnon for us. Another Best Bet winner for us was Bivouac in the Group 1 Darley as a real speed machine down the Flemington straight. We also had the bizarre decision by the SAJC to postpone the Saturday Adelaide Racing Tips meeting at Morphettville. At Race 2 when the TAB went down…WTF! The meeting was rescheduled to Monday in a stroke of SAJC genius…not!

This Weeks Saturday Racing Tips

This week in Melbourne Racing Tips will see the Zipping Classic, Sandown Cup and Sandown Guineas. It is a strong meeting to finish up the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. Wait for our update on the big Sandown Cup meeting later in the week or JOIN NOW iTipsports Racing Packages at itipsports.com.au

Melbourne Racing Tips Best Bet Winners last Saturday – BIVOUAC BRILLIANT

It seems the racing world awaits Bivouac who treated the Group 1 Darley with contempt in a devastating win on Saturday. This spring with no crowds will be remembered for Glenn Boss celebrations. His Cox Plate celebration will be replayed for years to come. There is no doubt his standing up in the irons the last 50m on Bivouac will be utilised to promote next Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

It was such a dominant performance as Boss trailing up, he always seemed to have the tearaway Nature Strip in its sights. But when he pushed the button the explosive turn of speed was brilliant. When you put it into context he went past last years champion sprinter Nature Strip like he was standing still and then was eased down winning by 4 lengths. James Cummings has indicated he would like to got to Dubai and Roya Ascot next year. From what we saw on Saturday it has the ingredients.

Melbourne Racing – ARCADIA QUEEN THE UNDOUBTED QUEEN

Luke Currie got the job done aboard Arcadia Queen who has arrived this Spring as a star of this Melbourne Racing Tips season. She has now won 2 Group 1s this spring and also a herculean run in the Cox Plate where she nearly fell at the 1000m mark.  She was a dominant winner of the Group 1 McKinnon Stakes and was given plenty of time to find her feet. She began tracking up 3 wide from the 1000m and Currie had a lapful of horse early in the straight. When asked for an effort she put them away well. The sky is the limit for this mare and no doubt a return bout for the Cox Plate in 2021 will be the aim.

Adelaide Racing Tips – TAB goes down SAJC pull the plug

In one of the most bizarre incidents in the betting world the TAB went into meltdown only an hour out from the first race on the final day of the Flemington Carnival. The TAB has said the “meltdown” of their service was due to a power surge on their main system. It meant that no one could collect any winnings. Some people were able to place bets and not collect depending on what state you were in and the online service was a total lockout.

Races right around the country were put back in order to try and get the wagering up and running. However it was unable to be rectified with the TAB losing an expected $100 million in turnover. No doubt the racing bodies around the country will be lining up for compensation due to the meltdown losing their much valued rebates on turnover through no fault of their own.

Adelaide Racing SAJC took the extraordinary step of postponing their last 7 races to Monday. This decision has made them the laughing stock of the nation with local participants furious. At least the SAJC get to hold the major meeting of Monday 9 November meets around the country, boo hoo to you SAJC. Regardless the meeting went ahead on the Monday and we had 4 Best Bets with 2 seconds and 2 unplaced. Luck does play a key role in horse racing and we had no luck with our 4 Best Bets. They are all Blackbookers for next starts and here is our comments:
R1 Frankie Pinot should have bolted in the jockey ran into a brick wall if you watch the replay it’s obvious it should’ve won
R3 Viduka bounced a half length slow then got caught 3 deep no cover ran very well-prob wins next start
R4 Dazzling Damsel got taken on by a horse in front who’s saddle had slipped and it seems the jockey didn’t realise-burnt WAY to much fuel when not needed
R5 Renegade had the run and every chance, disappointed.
