Saturday Racing Tips LAST WEEK – 6 BEST BET WINNERS for Subscribers

Our popular BEST BETS subscription was packed full of winners in our Top Saturday Racing Tips last week with 6 Bets Bet winners. Our Best bets package encapsulates as the names suggests the “best of the best” from our analysts around the country. Here are last Saturdays BEST BETS Winners:

Caulfield R3 Lombardo $2.05
had box seat run and peeled top of straight too good.

Melbourne R9 I’m Thunderstruck $3.10
got smacked around early and overcame tight racing for brave win

Morphettville R2 Slipintothis $3.00
settled nicely then poured the pressure on from 700m too strong

Morphettville R3 The Billionaire $2.40
this was a case of jump to the lead and increase the margin from there in a dominant win

Morphettville R7 Rock the Ring $3.20
jumped straight to the lead and never looked back blew them away

Eagle Farm R7 Apache Chase $2.20
brilliant ride let the leader take over then pounced in the straight

Cox Plate here we come – Anamoe

The star 3 year old raced into Cox Plate calculations with a dominant win in the Caulfield Guineas on Saturday. Anamoe firmed from $13 into $5.50 second fav for the Cox Plate behind Zaaki on a day when the Cox Plate was turned on its head. Damian Oliver chalked up his first Guineas win in 31 years, quite an extraordinary run of outs for the champ. He guided the horse superbly getting cover from the wide gate and storming home. It was only his 3rd run in this prep so if they choose to go to the Cox Pkate he goes with genuine upside and the light weight. Its worth noting the 3 year olds who have won the Cox Plate generally race nearer the pace. It may take a slight change in tactics if they are to head to the big one. Being owned by Godolphin the win means another big flow of money for the breeding operation when the champ goes to stud.

3 unit BEST BET Race 9 I’m Thunderstruck

On the back of being badly hampered in the Sir Rupert Clarke, it seemed the fav Im Thunderstruck was public enemy number 1 in the Group 1 Toorak. The horse was knocked from pillar to post early in the race and then had to bullock out in the straight. It is not easy for a relatively inexperienced horse at this level to do it was a very brave win. The horse now heads to the Golden Eagle as the $3.80 fav firming in from $5 into $3.80 after the win.

Zaaki stumbles as Probabeel and Non Conformist shine

We did say the writing could be on the wall after Zaaki’s last run at Sandown in the Underwood. It was unimpressive and we declared his worst run we had seen in Australia. We gave Zaaki the benefit of the doubt thinking he would be too good Saturday in the small field. But the pattern continued, he was the prohibitive $1.28 fav and was basically beaten at the top of the straight.

Zaaki – change of jockey the key

We have some concern about Craig Williams association with this horse, its twice now the horse hasn’t run for him and Williams seemed to be quite restrictive holding a tight reign that Zaaki resented. Williams is a top line rider BUT he is one dimensional. He likes to “ride pretty” looks to do the “textbook” thing as opposed to being fluid under race conditions. If Zaaki is to win the Cox Plate it will require a BIG turnaround and we feel change of jockey is a step in the right direction. They will be praying J-Mac can get an exemption. No doubt the two efforts out of the race were Probabeel (firmed into $11 for Cox Plate) and Non Conformist (firmed from $15 into $8 third pick for Caulfield Cup)
Black bookers: Probabeel and Non Conformist

Caulfield Cup and Delphi here we come second fav

Delphi was our top selection in the last at Caulfield last Saturday and needed to win to secure a Caulfield Cup berth. Win Delphi did and went to the line in a strong fashion to firm from $16 into $7 second fav for the Caulfield Cup. There have been 7 horses win the Herbert Power and back up to win the Caulfield Cup since 2007 so it’s a great guide to leading chances for the Cup. This horse was only having its third run this prep so should absolutely be cherry ripe for the big one next week. Obviously Incentivise is the talk of the town but its short and untested so anything is possible. The two placegetters The Chosen One and Hasta La War were also solid.
Black booker: Delphi

BEST BET winner Lombardo with ease

Our Expert Melbourne Racing Tips analyst Pete Brinky got us off to nice start Saturday. It was an easy watch for our Melbourne Racing Tips subscribers with the BEST BET of the day Lombardo. Enjoyed the beautiful trail 4th and 5th one wide was full of running toward the turn and hooked out ambled up and had a nice turn of speed to put them away with ease, nice win

Brooklyn Hustle – unlucky and the run never came

As can often be the case in the racing game “luck” can play a big part. Obviously what many people call “luck” we refer to as variance and provided we are on the value side of the equation over a period of time we will end up in the right side of the ledger. But with so many moving parts in a race it’s a foregone conclusion that you will be on the wrong side of luck from time to time. This was the case on Saturday, Brooklyn Hustle with arguably the best “traffic” rider in the game Craig Williams had absolutely no luck and got no breaks. It went to the line full of running and no doubt should’ve won. The other horse beaten a head was Dosh our second selection threw out at a nice price and grabbed right on the line. You win some you lose some!!

Spring Champion Stakes – Profondo a star of the future

Spring Champion Stakes winner Profondo has stamped himself a future megastar of the racing world with an extraordinary win at just his 3rd race start. After a dominant debut win he quickly stepped up and went down narrowly in the Gloaming Stakes. It was a manly effort in the Spring Champion going to the line with plenty left. He is now going to head to the paddock but he has got Cox Plate written all over him a year from now. He looks to be in for a super Autumn Spring Racing Carnival in 2022 and has to be the clear fav for the AJC Derby. Head Of State the second fav suffered atrial fibrillation (heart issue) so was a forgive run.
Black booker: Profundo

The Everest – Paulele here we come

Will Paulele find a slot for The Everest slot the big $15 million 1200m erae That is the question for Godolphin to answer, he certainly put his hand up with a nice strong win in the Roman Consul. The argument could be made that this race was far from the pressure cooker of the Everest but with 3 year old Yes Yes Yes showing in the past that a 3 year old can take out the big race a big decision awaits the boys in blue.
