ADELAIDE VS PORT ADELAIDE ADELAIDE OVAL

Captains Jonas and Sloane to lead respective teams in Friday night AFL Showdown

The first time the AFL trying the double header on Friday Night Football with the local Showdown!! Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide sides BOTH come into this clash 0-2 so this becomes a do or die game. 0-3 start is very hard to recover from and Port is most vulnerable to a 0-3 start given expectations they have.

Port Adelaide shocker last week

Something is not right at Port Adelaide, the effort they gave last week was disgraceful on a few fronts. For Port to return home in front of their fans for the first chance at redemption after the Prelim Final debacle embarrassment was terribly poor. And on a night dedicated to their all time greatest player and be beaten by over 10 goals against a bottom 4 side from last year is inexcusable. The loss of Alir showed how vulnerable Port is down back without him and no Dixon how reliant on him for a forward target.

Adelaide just as poor last week

Adelaide after a brave at home effort in round 1 with a narrow loss to the Dockers were totally outclassed by a Collingwood outfit that are really tracking in the right direction. Whilst Adelaide may have a lesser season expectation than Port, it was a poor result as well last week and an inability to score is the big weakness. How do they kick a score to win without Tex! Their midfield is sub standard with Sloane looking banged up.

Low scoring recent games

Both of these sides have structural issues up forward and the ability to address this may be what decides the outcome of this game. Of recent times scores between the two has been low average 135.5 points per game. Given this, you would think scores would have been tight but they have not, only last years 4 point Port win. Adelaide simply has not been able to score of recent times in these games and the last 4 games has seen an average of 42 points per game for Adelaide. It is hard to see that changing too much here, just as much as its hard to see how Port can get a free flowing scoring game.

No clear Human Behaviour angle to this one with both sides coming off below par efforts and it’s a no bet game on the line or win. The line has tightened up Port during the week from -16.5 to -20.5 so the flow of money is to Port. If you like the close game +20.5 has some small appeal Adelaide or even Port Adelaide 1-39 points at $2.10.
