MCG THURSDAY 17th MARCH

Traditional season AFL opener Carlton v Richmond at the MCG

We head to the traditional AFL season opener and the AFL Betting market has the Blues tightening up in price in AFL Round 1 AFL.
Where do these two teams sit is the million dollar question. It is going to be a BIG question that will be answered as the year unfolds. Richmond after 3 flags in 4 years fell of the cliff a bit last year and the question is are they done or is there another premiership assault in them. Carlton have been teetering on the cusp of being a good team but too often get blown away in 15-20 mins of footy, but they have shown their best can match it with the best-does Michael Voss have what it takes to lift the navy blues back into September and bring 4 quarters of footy to this side.

Carlton have not win this opening game in 8 years. They are on a big losing stretch and surely the time is now to put a stop to the Tiger dominance. We go back to the Elimination Final of 2013 for that Carlton win and its 11-0 Richmond since. Carlton has been able to score, the problem is Richmond has been able to score so much more freely with multiple scores over 100+ points. Carlton needs to be able to defend and stop these big scores to have any credibility and that is there challenge here. They get there chance here and Carlton is a lean.
Lean Carlton +13.5 (note not a firm bet)
