Brisbane Racing Tips – Kingsford Smith BTC Cup

The Kingsford Smith BTC Cup is a Group 1 race run under WFA conditions at Eagle Farm on the first day of their portion of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival. The race is the obvious stepping stone to the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap run a fortnight after the BTC CUP. Given that this race is held two weeks after the Doomben 10,000 it makes up the “Sprint Trilogy” of the Brisbane Winter Carnival with a lot of horses lining up in all three races.

This race recently swapped days with the Doomben 10,000 and as such it is probably going to be the Doomben 10,000 from now and going forward that will be the best guide to this race.

It has had some fabulous winners including Black Caviar (2011), Apache Cat (2008), two time winner Falvelon (2000 and 2003) and the great General Nediym (1998). It is assured to continue to attract quality given its placement in the Brisbane Racing Tips Winter Carnival.

Interesting to note that since Black Caviar won the race in 2011 there has not been a favourite salute.
