The Stradbroke Handicap is a Group 1 race over 1350 metres at Eagle Farm racecourse and has prize money of  $1.5 million and is a handicap weights race. However because of COVID-19, prize money has been scaled back to $350,000 for the 2020 Stradbroke Handicap. The Stradbroke was first run in 1890 and was named in the honour of Lord Stradbroke.

Other feature races on the Brisbane Racing Tips Stradbroke Handicap include the JJ Atkins over 1600m for two year olds and the Rough Habit Plate over 2200m.

Stradbroke Handicap – the race for longshots

The Stradbroke has not been a favoured race for favs in recent years. The last winner of the Stradbroke as fav was Sincero in 2011. Since that time the average winning odds has been $19 and the last 5 years has been $16. River Lad and Linton have both won in recent years at 31-1.

In the last 25 years there have only been 3 horses that have won at the start before the Stradbroke and then gone on to win the Stradbroke.
