Brisbane Racing Tips Doomben 10000

The Doomben 10,000 was first run in 1933. It was run over 1350m for 84 years until the BTC revamped the Brisbane Winter Carnival. They reduced the race to 1200m in order to enable it to become the first feature sprint of the carnival.

This Group 1 sprint race will be the feature of our Brisbane Racing Tips form sheet with Blaazing Ben Perkins. The 1200m event is worth $700,000 in prize money with $448,000 to the winner.

The Brisbane Racing Tips Doomben 10000 sprint was formerly a handicap race until the mid 90s. Yet again the BTC were progressive and made the call to change its conditions of entry into a WFA event lifting the quality of racehorse.

Doomben 10000 – look to the seasoned older horses for form guide

Logic is saying that perhaps the 3 year olds are suited at the WFA scale very late in their 3 year old season. History says they are not (2 of last 13). So despite the key weight pull its fair to say this is a “hard seasoned Sprinters” race, This can be further enforced when there has only been one four year old winner in last 10 years. The older hardened sprinters are suited in this race.

You can also make a case that the boys are suited here as well with only four female winners in the last 25 years. There has only been three “Queensland” horses winning in the last 20 years and it pays to heavily favour the interstate visitors. Redzel won the in 2017 then went on to go back to back in the richest sprint race in the world The Everest further underlying the quality of the race.

Brisbane Racing Doomben 10000 – past winners

There has not been a favourite win this race in 6 years and the average winning odds since then has been a whopping 18-1.
