Melbourne Racing Tips Group 3 Auries Star – FLEMINGTON
Legendary trainer Bart Cummings often proclaimed the Auries Star Handicap tells us the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is not far off. And so it is this Saturday at Flemington with the Group 3 Auries Star Handicap over 1200m at Flemington with prize money of $200,000. It is the first Group race of the new Melbourne racing season and signals the impending arrival of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. The Auries Star is an Open Handicap race down the “Straight Six” at Flemington Racecourse. Fields Of Omagh (2 time Cox Plate winner) is the most famous horse to have won the race and it points to it being a possible first up race for runners for the Melbourne Racing Tips Spring Carnival.
The Sir John Monash Stakes 1100m and the Bletchingly Stakes over 1200m are key lead up races. Horses that run well in the Auries Star Stakes are likely to look to the Memsie Stakes in late August.
Home of the Brave was the 2020 winner of the Auries Star Stakes and prior that very good horses like So Si Bon, Voodoo Lad and Hey Doc. It’s a capacity field and looks a great Auries 2021 with a full 20 entries accepted.
Sydney Racing Tips Missile Stakes Group 2 – RANDWICK
The Sydney Racing Tips Missile Stakes is a Group 2 sprint over 1200m with prize money of $200,000. The Missile Stakes is normally held at Rosehill racecourse but due to COVID restrictions will this year be held at Randwick. The Missile Stakes is is open to horses aged three years and older and will be the major feature race of Sydney Racing Tips analyst Blaazing Ben Perkins.Contested under weight-for-age conditions, the Missile Stakes field attracts strong sprinters looking to kick their spring racing campaign off with black-type success. Many horses first-up in the Missile Stakes could move towards stronger races during the Sydney and Melbourne Spring Racing Carnivals. The event now is lead-up race for owners and trainers chasing a slot in the $15 million The Everest.Many very good horses have won the Missile Stakes including Tycoon Tara in 2016 with the second horse Rebel Dane. In 2018 the winner was Pierata and 2020 the Missile Stakes was won by Eduardo. Eduardo went on to win Group 1 races The Galaxy and Doomben 10,000.
The 2021 Missile Stakes is headlined by Fasika, Kolding and Viridine and with 80% of the field 13-1 or under it promises to be a great race at Randwick.
