It was all about Buddy

AFL Round 2 was all about “Buddy” and the Sydney Swans as the star forward kicked his 1000th goal. Never mind the tens of thousands that stormed the SCG in quite unprecedented scenes as the achievement of the man stands out as unchallenged in AFL history. Buddy Franklin’s achievement is unprecedented in kicking the thousand goals. All other forward have largely done so as deep inside 50 forwards that would kick bags of goals. Franklin has done it as a hit up forward getting up the ground then working back inside 50 and kicking 3-4 goals every week without the big bag of goals like the others.
It is an outstanding feat and will not be beaten again, the modern game just does not allow for it. For Sydney Swans it is another vindication of the 10 year deal given to Franklin. The Swans beat Geelong easily to celebrate the 1000 goal feat and sit nicely at 2-0.

Winning AFL Bets
We had lean recommendations in AFL Round 2 on:
Brisbane -13.5 √
Brisbane/Essendon total game score under 174.5 √
Suns $4 and +24.5 √
Richmond +13.5 √
…and delivered on all of these bets except the Suns win in a plucky effort against Melbourne.
The Bulldogs were a strong bet and failed miserably in worrying signs for the Dogs who we expected to bounce hard from last years Grand Final loss. They need to bounce and quickly. Port were atrocious against Hawthorn and having lost to Prelim Finals in a row they sit in a precarious position with a drop down the table looking on the cards.
Beware early season win streaks
Collingwood, Carlton and Hawthorn are the three early season “spruik” teams and it pays to be wary of this position. Ironically all have new coaches and have kicked big 100+ point scores in winning and exciting their fans. We believe one of them will go on to have a strong season, likely Carlton. However for the moment we will be looking closely at all three teams under our HBM Human Behaviour Model in assessing betting opportunities given their peak performances.
We look forward to AFL Betting round 3 including highlight games:
Bulldogs and Swans Thursday night
Showdown between Adelaide and Port Adelaide
Derby in Perth between Eagles and Dockers
