THE AFL BETTING TIPS PREMIERSHIP RACE 2020
PORT ADELAIDE -LADDER POSITION 1st
Port Adelaide have held top spot from the opening game of the year. For a side that has been on top of the AFL ladder all year they are on the 4th line of betting to win the flag and they seem to have little respect. Perhaps its because they had big loses to Geelong and Brisbane who are now hardened finals contenders. That said in general Port have answered most questions thrown to them this year and they get to host 2 home finals. They take on Geelong who are a bit of a bogey side for Port Adelaide but Geelong have not found the answer to their terrible post bye record. Port winning will then see them hosting Richmond in a Preliminary Final and going through to take on Brisbane in the AFL Grand Final. There is also a very strange anomaly in the betting with Port Adelaide favoured to beat Geelong in 1st final yet are a longer price than them to win flag…it makes no sense.

BRISBANE-LADDER POSITION 2nd
Brisbane has some demons to overcome to the 2020 AFL flag. They were in the identical position last year (2nd) and went out in straight sets with home final losses (Richmond and GWS) and failing to even make the Prelim Final. Brisbane will no doubt have learnt from that experience and they will be looking to avenge in the opening final against the Tigers. Due to the COVID season Brisbane have had a pretty good look at things being home most weeks. It has to be a big plus and to have the Grand Final played on their home deck they get no better opportunity. If they beat Richmond they then hosting probably Geelong in a Prelim and see uip a winning chance to the flag!

BOOKIES PRICE-$5.25
RICHMOND-LADDER POSITION 3rd
The Tigers are the yard stick as they are seasoned and tested in the big time and no doubt last years premiers are in with a live chance. However this is the 4th straight year they have been “up”. There will be a drop off at some point as we have seen about the 4 year “up” mark with the great sides of recent times, Hawthorn, Geelong, Brisbane and Sydney. We see the Tigers being vulnerable in the opening final and the market has them hot favs. However we believe Brisbane is ready to bring what is needed. There have been little signs of frustration through the year with Richmond players, at times it’s a bit like the champion just struggling to hold the peak of the mountain. They are capable but Brisbane has the upside. If Richmond was to lose to Brisbane then most probably they beat St Kilda only to meet Port Adelaide in Adelaide in a Prelim. We see them as short and little value in the AFL premiership market.
RICHMOND FLAG – OUR RATED PRICE-$6.50
BOOKIE PRICE-$3.25
GEELONG-LADDER POSITION 4th
The Cats are yet to find the secret to unleash their best effort after a “bye” and no doubt they will be haunted after finishing top of the ladder last year and losing to Collingwood in the opening final. It has been an issue following the Cats under Chris Scotts reign. And as much as he will talk it down leading into this it’s a big problem. The Cats need to travel to Adelaide to take on Port Adelaide, but we are sure Port Adelaide have taken a lot of lessons out of their 10 goal loss to the Cats 6 weeks ago. No doubt the Cats have the finals experience in their favour against Port but this is balanced in some way by continually failing in finals in recent years. The Cats may be in trouble to Port Adelaide then most likely facing and beating the Eagles then having to play Brisbane at the Gabba in a Prelim. This would be a tough proposition and may make another failed Geelong finals campaign.
GEELONG FLAG-OUR PRICE $8
BOOKIES PRICE-$5.50
WEST COAST-LADDER POSITION 5th
There have been two different “Eagles” sides this year…the Eagles at home and the Eagles in a hub. The Eagles at home can win the flag but the Eagles in the hub would be lucky to make the finals.
The first week of finals and they take on Collingwood. Its one of the most bizarre finals preparations you could imagine with both sides needing to quarantine for 7 days before being able to correctly prepare. The Eagles must be doing cartwheels thanking their militant Premier McGowan…thanks for nothing Premier! It’s unchartered territory and no precedent for what could unfold here.
In general Collingwood have been good travellers but the Eagles are very hard to beat at home. The firepower of the Eagles to be to good in this 2018 Grand Final rematch and they will the go on to play most likely Geelong. The Cats would likely take care of them in Queensland Hubsville and the Eagles season will be done.
ST KILDA-LADDER POSITION 6th
It’s been quite a rise by the Saints and a real tick for their decision to make Ratten the senior coach. He has done a remarkable job of creating a cohesive team and they really do look like they play for him and each other. The Saints have beaten Richmond, Port Adelaide and 2 point loss to the Lions at the Gabba. That’s the sort of form that could see them push a bit deeper than some think. If they beating the Bulldogs in the first final (they beat them by 40 points earlier in year) then they will line up against most probably Richmond. This could bring them unstuck but an upset would not surprise us and St Kilda are the possible surprise packet of the AFL finals.
ST KILDA FLAG -OUR PRICE $18
BOOKIES PRICE-$41
WESTERN BULLDOGS-LADDER POSITION 7th
The Bulldogs were ambushed in the Elimination Final last year. After flogging the Giants by 60 points only a fortnight earlier they waltzed into the game thinking they would win easily. They were not finals ready and got torched, the season over in the first finals game. It has been a bit more of a grind this year for the Dogs but they have managed to find their way into the finals again. No doubt they won’t fall for the three card trick as they did last year, however they are taking on a Saints side that look hungry and committed. Its difficult to see where they turn the game around from their meeting earlier this year, the Dogs went down by 40 points. However the Dogs do play with spirit and it is an even contest.
WESTERN BULLDOGS FLAG-OUR PRICE $41
BOOKIES PRICE-$23
COLLINGWOOD-LADDER POSITION 8th
The Pies have a big task ahead as they need to fly to Perth, 7 days in isolation and the get themselves ready to perform in a knockout final. Collingwood scraped into the 8 and they have been very stop start through the whole year. Something that has stood up for Collingwood is their defensive play they are ranked number 1 in the comp however they will struggle to hold the firepower that is at the Eagles disposal. We saw this on display earlier this year when the Eagles won by 11 goals and the Pies gave up their biggest score of year. Collingwood better with De Gory back but the Eagles in Perth but looks a bridge to far.
