AFL Round 6 a snapshot review
AFL ROUND 6 – a look at the round
The AFL Betting Tips market now has the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne as shortened in the market for the AFL Grand Final 2021 and AFL Premiers. They are both 6-0 and in the case of the Demons Sportsbet as a PR stunt have “paid out” bets on Melbourne as AFL Premiers for 2021. Both Melbourne and Bulldogs are on big peak performances runs as we watch closely their AFL Betting Odds for the next period during these peaks. Western Bulldogs into $5.50, Melbourne into $6.00 the AFL Flag with Port and Richmond at $5 even favs. Geelong is $11 into $8.50 as a shortener with West Coast the drifter out to $13.
Richmond had a poor loss to Melbourne and the Tigers now sit 3-3 on the AFL ladder and Dusty out with concussion. We can expect the win-loss-win-loss to continue on Richmond as they manage the mindset of winning 3 of 4 AFL premiership and how do they continue to reinvent themselves. The Bulldogs were all square with GWS at Q3 time and our +19.5 line GWS looked good. Nine goals later and GWS were smashed.
Geelong was a nice WIN $1.70 bet as they smashed West Coast at home by 97 points. West Coast is in the classic win home lose away pattern and are fast becoming an enigma for AFL Betting Tips. You get no value on them at home but they cannot get close away.
Port Adelaide had a solid win at home and Brisbane get to 3-3 as both of those sides will look to contend with the current top two sides. Port smashed St Kilda who now look a shell of the 2020 finals side and it is hard to see how they turn it around. St Kilda simply have not managed expectation. Brisbane beat Carlton 103-85 and whilst it was a better Carlton performance at 1-5 they look lost and a bottom six position beckons. Big pressure on their coach Teague who looks “rabbit in the spotlights” to us in the coaches box and may be better served getting down on the bench amongst the action.
Richmond had a poor loss to Melbourne and the Tigers now sit 3-3 on the AFL ladder and Dusty out with concussion. Port smashed St Kilda who now look a shell of the 2020 finals side and it is hard to see how they turn it around. They simply have not managed expectation.
Fremantle get the move up the table and now are three in a row as they downed 0-6 North Melbourne and Freo can look favourably to a return to the AFL finals. North can put two, maybe three quarters together but that’s about it as they continue to be big lines but cannot cover.
Essendon beat Collingwood on Anzac Day and in the end with relative ease. Essendon appear an improving side under a composed coach. Collingwood are simply a club under siege on and off the ground. It is hard to see this improving and we suggest their will be a point where Buckley will rightly concede and give it up to someone else. A new club beckons for Buckley and Collingwood need more off field changes to assert a position of strength.
Adelaide Crows 14 straight goals but lose the game
Last but not least was the bizarre Adelaide versus Hawthorn game. Hawthorn got out of the blocks but then Adelaide kicked 10 straight second quarter goals and a sequence of 15 straight goals. Adelaide were 32 points up and then the Hawks fought back and we had the bizarre situation where Adelaide’s sub took 15 minutes to get ready. Adelaide effectively played 1 rotation short for 15 minutes and they defend this…WTF! The Hawks got home by 3 points 102-99 in a high scoring game.
