Adelaide Saturday Racing Tips
Adelaide Racing comes alive in May as we head to the Adelaide Racing Tips Autumn Carnival. Two of the important lead up races are run at Morphettville on Saturday and with the issues around COVID-19 and cross border restrictions Adelaide has become a beneficiary to this with some exciting horses staying in Adelaide. Our Saturday Morphettville Racing Tips will see the exciting Dalasan would be in Sydney if the cross border restriction were not in place but is lining up in the Port Adelaide Guineas. Trainers such as Tony McEvoy who would normally be sending runners to Melbourne expands his team to Adelaide Racing for Port Adelaide Guineas Day. The Adelaide Racing Autumn Carnival will run from 4 April to 16 May.
Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival
The Adelaide Racing Winter Carnival does well and truly second fiddle to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. However it is most likely that Adelaide will see many exciting runners heading here, especially from Melbourne. We cover the 2 main races for Morphettville Saturday Racing which are races 7 and 9 on the Adelaide Racing Tips card.
Adelaide Race 7 – Port Adelaide Guineas
The Port Adelaide Guineas is really the first major indication of horses heading toward the SA Derby. The Guineas is an 1800m race and has prize money of $100,000. It is used as the strongest lead in race to the Chairman’s Handicap run 3 weeks later (Group 3 2000m Morphettville racecourse) with the Group 1 SA Derby run a fortnight later over 2500m.
Adelaide Race 9 – Manihi Classic
The Manihi Classic is one of the stepping stone’s on the feature sprints over the Adelaide Racing Tips Autumn Carnival. It is a listed race over 110m at Morphettville racecourse and has prize money of $100,000. Horses who compete in this progress on to either the RN Irwin Stakes (18th April) or the DC Mackay Stakes (2nd May) with the big goal being the Group 1 Goodwood Handicap on the 16th May at Morphettville.
