ZAAKI – SPRING CARNIVAL 2022
REMEMBER WHEN ZAAKI CRUISED TO VICTORY IN THE ALL START MILE
We continue our Remember When Racing series as we move to the month of August and the Spring Racing Carnival not far off. The DOMINANT Cox Plate fav of last year was a stunning scratching on the morning of the big race. It was no doubt devastating for trainer Anabel Neasham but there is CLEARLY some unfinished business here.
The Autumn All Star Mile winner at Flemington is the feature race we look at as Zaaki stamped itself as a star with a superior win in the 1600m Classic. Zaaki was narrowly beaten on a bog track in the Autumn this year but still a terrific run in the Queen Elizabeth (the famous Nash Rawiller ride on Think It Over the difference). He then went on to win the Hollindale (the same path as last year).
At this point Zaaki will resume its Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival campaign later in August in the Memsie Stakes. We will look to Zaaki to be forward in preparation en route to the Cox Plate in 2022.
Zaaki Is currently the $4.40 clear Cox Plate fav for the Moonee Valley classic weight for age race and it’s hard to fault its Autumn/Winter form so can go on with it in the Spring of 2022.
