Saturday Racing Tips – review

The Sydney Racing Tips Winx Stakes marked the kick off point for the Sydney and Melbourne Spring Racing arrival. This weeks Memsie Stakes at Caulfield this Saturday marks the commencement of the Melbourne Racing Tips Spring Carnival. We really start to see the quality horses come back to action as the path to glory for races such as the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup and The Everest. The Memsie Stakes will be the focus of our Saturday Racing Tips.

Sydney Racing Tips – Winx Stakes

The Winx Stakes at Randwick to kick start the Sydney Racing Tips Spring Carnival can be a very difficult race to find the winner. We are never quite sure how forward the horses are and what the trainers plans are going forward with them. But it was certainly a cracking field that goes us underway at Randwick racecourse.

Winx Stakes – an Elleegant result

Saturdays running of the Winx Stakes marked the Cox Plate and its runners  on notice that Verry Elleegant is back! Who knows where the Melbourne Racing Tips Spring Carnival will end up in the COVID era, but one thing is for sure the Chris Waller trained Verry Elegant has put her hand to get there.

She sat out the back and its worth noting 3 of the first 4 place getters settled 3rd last, 2nd last and last. The early pace took the fitness out of those rolling up front but Verry Elleegant was a huge effort. She tracked up 3 and 4 wide no cover working very hard, got up to them on the turn was headed in the straight and had the audacity to lift and go again.

It’s one of those spectacles as a horse lover you get chills from when you can see the spirit of the horse and jockey and its will to win. Make no mistake Verry Elleegant wanted it more that is why she won and that’s why she is a multiple Group 1 winner.

Sydney Racing – the other runners

The big flop out of the race was Master Of Wine. It was his first real step up to the big time and first up he was terrible. He was a beaten horse 300m from home, monitor the stewards reports for any issues reported by the vets. Fierce Impact showed it has returned right where it left of last spring and is a  real nice horse who will make its presence felt in the feature mile races should it get to Melbourne. Star Of The Seas was a brilliant run, not sure where they will take it but on that run you can be sure it will run well.

Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival – markets

As a result of last Saturdays Sydney Racing Tips Winx Stakes win, Verry Elleegant has shortened dramatically for the major Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival markets. She is now second fav at 11-1 for the Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup and is now 18-1 and third fav for the Melbourne Cup. Form sheets and tips out this Friday for the big Saturday Racing Tips meetings.
