AFL FINALS WEEK 1 FRIDAY NIGHT

This is the Western Bulldogs versus Hawthorn with Friday Night AFL Football from the MCG. There is an argument to mount that these two teams are the form teams of the AFL and if not in a knock out final would sit higher on the AFL Grand Final and Premier betting. As it is they are only just off the top line of betting, noting of course after Friday night one will be season over.
Hawthorn comes here on a 7 game PEAK PERFORMANCE RUN on our HBM modelling, the longest of the season and reflects their superior form after starting the year 0-5. 2 of the last 3 wins have been SIGNIFICANT PEAKS and they come off the “training run” win over North Melbourne by a whopping 124 points. The Bulldogs are on a 2 game peak run, last game a win over GWS in Ballarat.
The Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn head to head the Hawks has won the last 2 but both by tight margins of 7 and 3 points. The Bulldogs had won the 3 prior and all were comfortable wins in the high 20 point range. Total game scores between the two at the higher end of the range at 169.6 points per game and we see the Bulldogs average points at 92 points and Hawthorn 75.5 points. Last game was a high 199 total points. Note there has only been one score of 100+ points for any of the sides head to head in the last 5 contests.
These two meet at the MCG for the first time since 2019 that was a high 106-87 Bulldogs win. This looks a highly entertaining game on paper between two in form sides with the overextended peak run of Hawthorn.
