Two weeks ago we saw two epic Grand Finals in the AFL and NRL involving Sydney teams and Melbourne teams.
History will show us that the results for the two Grand Finals went 1-1…the AFL to the Western Bulldogs from Victoria and the NRL to the Cronulla Sharks of New South Wales.
So, what State will come out on top during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, Victoria or New South Wales.
Our man Pete Brinky from iTipsports has reviewed Caulfield on 8 October and previewed the Guineas and 1000 Guineas Day during the Caulfield Cup Spring Racing Carnival 2016 as well as who might win the State v State Championship of Racing at Moonee Valley for the WS Cox Plate and Flemington for Emirates Melbourne Cup Week during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016.
On Caulfield Guineas Day in race 3 half the field were Sydney border hoppers with the winner Hear the Chant from Victoria and in race 4 John O’Shea had the favourite, coming off a hat trick of wins, whilst Weir saddled up the main danger, the winner being Chetwood for the Sydneysiders. Result: Victoria 1, NSW 1
Race 5 saw the Snowdens bring down the lightly raced but promising type in Ravi, to tackle the favourites from down south in Secret Agenda and Sheidel and Sheidel winning and one to the Victorians. Result: Victoria 1
Race 6 was a bottler with Winx coming to Caulfield for the first time to take on the home town hero in Black Hear Bart with Winx a comfortable winner and one back for the Sydneysiders Result: NSW 1
The 1000 Guineas betting was dominated by two raiders in Foxplay and the well supported Global Glamour but don’t write of fthe VICS with Missrock a chance at odds and the winner Global Glamour and one up for the Sydneysiders. Result: NSW 1
The Caulfield Guineas also saw a couple from the Sydneysiders camp heading the markets with a kiwi challenging late. The Vics were represented by Kaching an each way chance and the winner Divine Prophet for the Sydneysiders.
Result: NSW 1
Race 9 the home town well represented with He’s our Rokkii and Bon Aurum dominating the betting and a win for the Vics, a super win for the promising He’s Our Rokkii. But, in race 10 the Sydneysiders bounced back with winner with Star Turn a nice bet.Result: Victoria 1, NSW 1
Saturday 8th October results: Victoria 3 NSW 5
Looking Ahead…iTipsports Spring Stable Stars during the
Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016
We have the major races for the Spring, Caulfield Cup, the WS Cox Plate and the big 4 meetings over the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016 including Derby Day, Emirates Melbourne Cup Day, Crown Oaks Day and Emirates Day.
So with the results from Caulfield and 1000 Guineas Day during the Caulfield Cup Spring Racing Carnival 2016 evenly positioned between the Vics and the Sydneysiders, which horses from the main Group 1 races may swing the result either way?
iTipsports Stable Stars
Caulfield Cup Spring Racing Carnival 2016
Jameka has been backed from our original Stable Stars quote $40 to $3.20 as a raging favourite and a leg up for the Victorians. Tarzino is also a Stable Star ,a Victorian too and has blown out from a $15 favourite to $40 but needs to find his best form which he hasn’t so far. Tavago and Sofia Rose, original Spring Stable Stars have not come up this prep and are out. There are a number of Internationals in the race and Scottish is our favoured. The background here is the Goldolphins have Hartnell in the Cox Plate leaving Scottish racing without Hartnell.
Conclusion: Vics have a great chance with the fav Jameka.
WS Cox Plate 2016
Winx was a $2.75 fav when we first put up our Spring Stable Stars and is now $2. Hartnell $2.75 and Winx for the Sydneysiders dominates betting and throw in Yankee Rose, a Spring Stable Star at $21 after winning the Spring Champion Stakes means the Sydneysiders have this race in hand. For the Vics Black Heart Bart $17 and stable star He’s Our Rokki out to $125 (doubtful starter) are the best chances.
Conclusion: Sydneysiders have this In hand
AAMI Victoria Derby Day 2016
Kaching is a Victorian and is a Spring Stable Star at $26 for the Derby. Kaching was ridden upside down in the Guineas and happy to forgive that run. The Derby field is very open and we will be watching the 2000m Caulfield Classic this Saturday and the 2040m 3yo race on Cox Plate Day as lead up form. Conclusion: too early to call
Emirates Melbourne Cup 2016
Again the Internationals come into play here and our two Stable Stars Wicklow Brave $17 and Corren Mirotec $19 who will be looking to halt the charge for the Vic and Sydneysiders for the “Race that stops the Nation”. Tarzino $41 is a Stable Star out from $26 and is the Vics big hope and we will hold this bet.
We are adding Hartnell $6 as a Spring Stable Star for the Melbourne Cup. The reasoning is we think he will run in the first two in the Cox Plate and on this form he goes to the Cup giving Sydneysiders a big chance here. We haven’t added Jameka to the Melbourne Cup chances as we think she will win the Caulfield Cup and cop a 2-3kg penalty whereas Hartnell, if he wins the Cox Plate no penalty as it is WFA.
Conclusion: more likely Sydneysiders
Crown Oaks 2016
Serenely Discreet (is a South Aussie!) into $9 from $26 and was an original Spring Stable Star. Omei Sword and Samara Dancer are both out. Yankee Rose, a Sydneysider, is a Spring Stable Star and he is obviously one to talk about. Cracking win in the Spring Champion but she is in for the WS Cox Plate and likely to be highly competitive hence advancing her Crown Oaks prospects. Sebring Dream is a Victorian well in the market and got home hard in the Guineas.
Conclusion: have to fancy the Sydneysiders
