Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival 2020 – The Championships
The Championships is the Grand Final of Autumn Australian Racing during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. It is the biggest fortnight of Racing as Randwick racecourse of racing on 4 and 11 April. There are 8 Group 1 races on offer over the 2 weeks ands 18 races in total. Sydney Racing Tips The Championships – prize money slashed
The Sydney Racing Tips Championship was worth $20 million in prize money. It has now had its prize money slashed because of the COVID-19 virus to $10 million. This is still a mountain of money but a big change by the Australian Turf Club. This is likely a sign of the times for prize money and payments in sports all around the world. The prize money changes have been evenly distributed across all 18 races of the 2 weeks of The Championships. The biggest change has been in the flagship event of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, cut by a whopping 2 million from $4 million to $2 million. Group 1 AJC Australian Derby 2400m – $1 million
