Artorius wins the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield

Melbourne Racing Tips Blue Diamond Stakes

It was a Super Saturday Racing Tips at Caulfield last Saturday with 3 big Group 1 races in the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival. Our focus race with Expert Melbourne Racing Tips analyst Pete Brinky was the classic Blue Diamond Stakes for the 2 year olds.

It turned out to be a dominant win in this year’s Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield with a very powerful finish by Artorius. It wasn’t dominant in terms of margin, but it was dominant in the sense that it is hard to see anything that finished behind it turning the tables. Artorius was the 4th selection of our Melbourne Racing Tips Expert Pete Brinky. Below is a snapshot from our Saturday Racing Tips form sheet and Saturday Late Mail. For those value punters, you would have been on Artorius at the 14-1 odds.

Artorius won a 1300m race at its lead in run and had the Blinkers added. It fired up in the early stages but then settled and when saw daylight unleashed an unbelievable turn of foot. The hot fav Enthaar sweated up before the race and was under pressure at the 150m mark. Once again another victim of the “1000m star” and it’s a different story at 1200 in a Diamond. There weren’t any hard luck stories out of the race.

Here was our race preview and recommendation:
Race 7 – Blue Diamond Stakes
N13 Anthaar 3 unit BEST BET $2.40 brilliant filly unbeaten at 2 starts to date and despite drawing wide should be too speedy, cross field, be on speed and hard to run down.  On pace in this race has proven advantage over the years.
N1 General Beau 1 unit value $7 late entry and looks one of the top hopes on 2 wins this prep and 3 wins from 4 starts.  Drawn to get favours and has J. Kah.
N8 Jigsaw 1 unit value $12 trapped wide but was still strong on line in lead up race here fortnight back after brilliant first up win at Geelong.
N7 Artorius 1 unit value $12 backed as if unbeatable and didn’t let supporters down at Sandown last start after placing at Geelong.  Thinking he will be the one charging late.
Late Mail: this horse Anthaar looks a star and we back it as a 3 unit BEST BET. General Beau is the danger and paid the big late entry as they should. Jigsaw and Artorius not out of it and are value.

1: back Anthaar 3 units saver General Beau 1 unit OR
2. back roughies Jigsaw and Artorius 1 unit win for upset.

Sydney Racing Tips Golden Slipper Stakes

Artorius into $11 for the Golden Slipper Stakes to be held late March although is not in the nominations for the worlds richest 2 year old race. The Blue Diamond winner also followed our “system” spoken about in our recent 10 Minute Guide to Backing More Autumn Racing Carnival Winners. If you had invested $10 on each horse it would have been a $50 investment for a $130 return.

Futurity Stakes and Oakleigh Plate

The Futurity was a great lead up to the All Star Mile and Probabeel was outstanding. 3 wide no cover and brilliant acceleration again it was a brilliant win. Arcadia Queen was a great resuming run really finding the line and will get a great fitness benefit out of the run. Mr Quickie was also a great return. had a flat spot early in the straight and really found the line has come back super and these three will clash again in the All Star Mile.

Oakleigh Plate was over 1100m and the runs out of this race were Dirty Work and Brooklyn Hustle, also Mizzy not disgraced. Dirty Work had zero, luck didn’t get clear until late and could have won, is not in the Newmarket betting so not sure where they are heading, Brooklyn Hustle really found the line hard and the 1200m of Newmarket to suit ($15). Mizzy was 8 wide no cover happy to overlook the effort and be happy to follow her but not sure where she runs next. Celebrity Queen was one of our Melbourne Racing Tips selections and one of the dead heaters out of the race. Will take a nice fitness improvement into the Newmarket Handicap over 1200m and firmed from $26 into $11.

Sydney Racing Silver Slipper

It was a pretty lacklustre silver slipper, the winner Home Affairs did enough but did have every possible hope. Rocket Tiger arguably shoud’ve won was green as grass in behind them and still has some learning to do they still have the ability to add blinkers it seems he will run next in the Balck Opal. Though Tiger Of Malay was a HUGE run settled last off moderate tempo stormed home with an interrupted run as horses underneath moved out, very nice effort and pay to follow where it runs next, not in slipper noms.

Adelaide Racing Tips – Tralee Rose Adelaide Cup bound

Our Expert Adelaide Racing Tips analyst Value Victor had 5 big winners last Saturday at Morphettville including 5 first select winners. One of them was Tralee Rose who has an absolute mortgage on the Adelaide Cup in 2 weeks time. She was 7 weeks between runs into last Saturdays Lord Reims (traditional Adelaide Cup lead up race) and went to the line in a jog and trotting to destroy her rivals. Trainer Symon Wilde says she has “got the biggest tank you have seen” and on that effort you have to agree. She may be worth a look in the Melbourne Cup Futures markets at $26.

Melbourne Racing Tips this from Flemington will see the Group 1 Australian Guineas for the 3 year olds along with the Blamey Stakes over 1600m. In Sydney Racing Tips the Autumn Carnival looks to really kick in with the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes along with the Surround Stakes for the fillies. Adelaide Racing Tips comes from Murray Bridge as we get set for the Group 1 Adelaide Cup the week after with analyst Value Victor.
