Autumn Racing Carnival comes to an end
The Sydney Racing Tips Autumn Carnival comes to an end for 2021 and it was spectacular Group 1 racing in March and April. Watch out for our wrap of Melbourne Racing Tips and Sydney Racing Tips Blackbookers from the Carnival. We do this with a particular focus on the soon to be released Futures markets for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival and betting opportunities that may present from this.
Captivant was a BEST BET with Sydney Racing Tips and a big winner of the 2 year old classic the Champagne Stakes. We look at a black booker for the Brisbane Racing Tips Winter Carnival who ran nicely in Sydney. The St Leger was held on Sunday Anzac Day Flemington meeting and a nice on winning the 3 year old classic. And of course the All Aged Stakes from Randwick and Kolding getting home in the Group 1 classic.

Saturday Racing Tips review
Our Best Bet Winner group 1 for Captivant
Captivant was a 3 unit BEST BET winner Saturday and top rated selection by Sydney Racing Tips analyst Blaazing Ben Perkins. What an extraordinary set of circumstances it was for Captivant to take out his Group 1 in the Champagne. He was comprehensively smashed two weeks earlier by the star Anamoe in the Sires. Trainer Snowden thought it was a fruitless task to try and win a return bout so sent Captivant to the paddock for a break. A few days later Anamoe was announced as a non start and Snowden grabbed Captivant back from his holiday!!
He had a cosy run in transit and was strong to the line adding another zero to his net worth as a stallion and giving his sire the boom sire Capitalist his first Group 1 winner. The big question for the stable now is whether they now head to Brisbane after bagging their Group 1.
They may aim for the newly created “The Future” series which include the Champagne (1200m) Group 2 Sires 1400m ($1 million) and the JJ Atkins over the 1600m. The other option of course is to put away for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival with the Caulfield Guineas the target.
All Aged Winner Kolding
Our second selection Kolding at $10 took out a classic All Aged Stakes. Kolding was headed at the 100m mark but fighting back like a caged lion to beat Savitiano. He went around at big odds all things considered, the drier track was a big key to his chances after the market dismissed his recent run of “outs” not considering the surface he was running on. Chris Waller has now trained a Group 1 winner in the past 5 weeks on each day of the Sydney Carnival which is extraordinary. Kolding is most likely to head for a spell and come back for a race like the Winx Stakes in late August in Sydney.
Zaaki one to follow in Brisbane Racing Carnival
No doubt one of the horses to follow out of the Sydney Racing Tips Randwick meeting was Zaaki from the Neasham yard who ran 2nd in the JRA Plate. He was the beaten fav but his run full of merit with hard fitness probably his undoing. He covered extra ground no cover as well from the 600 moved up under a hold but out toughed by a horse dropping back from 2600m (hard fit). Zaaki was only 2nd up so will get a nice lift, the Doomben Cup at WFA looks the perfect race before a possible Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival race like a Caulfield Cup.
Melbourne Racing St Leger Winner Irish Eyes
Where to now is the question for the St Leger winner at Flemington last Sunday Anzac Day. Through Irish Eyes admittedly had a lot his own way in the Flemington feature and he probably got to the front a bit early. He is still so raw and almost wanted to pull up when he hit the front but got focussed again and was strong to the line. He looks a nice stayer and the stable have some options to consider. Do they back him up into the Adelaide Derby or take him for a trip to Queensland and follow the Vow and Declare path of the Queensland Derby. Another option is to tackle the Andrew Ramsden Stakes and seek automatic qualification for the Melbourne Cup.
Morphettville Adelaide Racing Tips Carnival hots up
The Morphettville Adelaide Winter Racing Carnival really starts up this Saturday Racing with the Sangster Stakes and Australasian Oaks. The two horses to follow from last Saturday Racing Tips are Magna Bella and Cool Magnum. Magna Bella had heavy betting support but was given ZERO hope by the jock Jason Holder. He sat last 4 wide no cover pushed 8 deep on the turn and thundered home. Where it goes is not clear as not in the futures for the bigger sprints. Cool Magnum is a similar story, was 4 wide no cover working VERY hard when the speed on and battled hard
The traditional lead up to the Derby the Chairman’s Stakes was a confusing race. No doubt video watchers will be all over Deep Strike who no doubt should’ve won the race. However not being able to have a tough hit out (being badly held up) is not always the best lead in to an endurance type race like the Derby. So whilst we concede it was unlucky possibly the $10 in Futures markets not value.
