Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016 Wrap

Melbourne Cup Carnival 2016 Highlights Wrap –

We were pleased with our results in the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016. It was definitely a tough Carnival, best reflected by the Crown Oaks winner, Lasqueti Spirit at $139 if you don’t mind. Big fields and big odds were the order of the day but we were amongst the winners. Our best result for the Carnival was without doubt our mid August Spring Stable Stars team and our selection of Jameka at $41 in the Caulfield Cup. She of course won as a $4 favourite.

AAMI Victoria Derby Day was our best day, with 6 winners and a $40 placegetter amongst our results. The average odds for our winners across the day was $5.40 plus the each way bet at $6 place making it a huge collect day.

WS Cox Plate Day the super horse Winx won as a $2 favourite but we did put Winx up as a Spring Stable Star at $2.90 mid August and was money for jam if you were on. The last race of Cox Plate day was a super result with us selecting the winner at $6, the second place getter Mordava was $50 and we had the trifecta that paid $700 to box our three selections.

Crown Oaks Day produced three winners at two at cracking prices of $16 and $10 as was Emirates Day where we also had three winners and two paying $12 and $10 respectively.

Melbourne Cup Day was certainly a tough one and as a rule it generally is but congrats if you were on the winner. We did however land the $6,160 Quaddie.

So all eyes our now on the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival 2017 and Sydney Autumn Carnivals 2017 and of course the Melbourne Cup Carnival 2017.

The Autumn Carnivals of Melbourne and Sydney overlap each other but what we get from mid February to Mid April is brilliant racing in the two cities with the Newmarket Handicap and Australian Cup in March at Flemington Racecourse and the Golden Slipper at Rosehill racecourse in March and in April the Super Saturday The Championships at Randwick racecourse featuring the Doncaster Handicap, BMW, AJC Derby amongst other great Group 1 racing.

The Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2017 markets are up for the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and WS Cox Plate.

We tipped Francis of Assisi on Emirates Day this year and duly collected at $6 and it looks very smart. Other horses that caught our eye over the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016 and possible target races were the 3yo Spright (Newmarket Handicap), Fabrizio (Doncaster) and 3yo Comin Through (Australian Guineas). Jameka whilst disappointing on Melbourne Cup Day was superb in the Caulfield Cup and the Australian Cup 2017 in March looks ideal and of course Winx is installed as a $2.50 fav for the WS Cox Plate 2017 and the BMW at Randwick racecourse looks ideal in the Autumn next year.

For those that are new to itipsports for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016 and took up a package thanks for joining and we hope you stay on board over the summer and into Autumn 2017 and beyond. For our regulars, Keep on ‘Chooglin as the great Creedence Clearwater Revival would say!
