Last Saturday Racing 17-1 winner

Saturday Racing Tips review Melbourne and Sydney

It was a brilliant Saturday Racing Tips last weekend with the running of the third Melbourne Racing Tips All Star Mile. We also had the “real” start of the Sydney Racing Tips Autumn Carnival with the running of the Coolmore Classic. Super Saturday at Rosehill racecourse looms this Saturday with Golden Slipper Stakes for the 2 year olds. Golden Slipper Tips will be the feature this Saturday with Expert Sydney Racing Tips analyst.

Melbourne Racing All Star Racing classic

What a race it was at Moonee Valley, the richest race over a mile in the world. The rain came and the chances changed. The crowd of 9,000 strong voiced down the straight as they do on Cox Plate Day to create a great atmosphere. Early fav Probabeel given a good ride simply didn’t get through the conditions, so whilst disappointing its a run to put the pen through.

What a race it was the final 400m between Mugatoo and Russian Camelot with Bowman and Oliver aboard. They had both ridden the perfect race to this point Ollie took the initiative and moved up to trap Bowman in a pocket. Bowman was patient, he had to be, there was no other option his comment post race of “sometimes the best option is to have no option at all.” The gap came, he got the run with Mugatoo and with race fitness on his side he drew clear for a nice win. Both horses now head to the Queen Elizabeth in Sydney and a rematch quinella not out of the equation against the great mare Verry Elleegant. No doubt the run of the race was Streets of Avalon. Not sure if it follows them to the Queen Elizabeth, but it was 4 wide no cover and huge so follow and a definite black booker.

Melbourne Racing Tips review

Alister Clark Stakes over 2040m and Grandslam was our third selection with Expert Melbourne Racing Tips analyst Pete Brinky. It was a BIG win by Grandslam in the Alister Clark Stakes with the big question out of it is can we believe the form. It was a brilliant front running ride by Jamie Kah who led and dictated, went for home and won by 6 lengths being strong to the line. However it wasn’t a true staying test, he will now head onto the ATC Derby with a live chance but still a query over staying strength. The flop of the race was odds on fav Cherry Tortoni, out the back wobbled badly on the home turn and missed the place. Cherry Tortoni will still head on to the ATC Derby but big question marks.

The other horse to follow is Persan who was Melbourne Racing Tips top selection and a nice winner. Not sure if Persan heads to Sydney but is likely to be set for the Andrew Ramsden Stakes in May. The Andrew Marsden is a direct entry for the winner into Melbourne Cup and this is the goal for Persan. A very nice horse and one to watch if bobs in Sydney over the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Sydney Racing review 2 year olds review

With the Golden Slipper Stakes on this week there were a number of races we had our eye on last week. Sydney Races 2 and 3 were the 2 year old races last week, in particular the performances of Arcaded, Shaquero and Tiger of Malay runs. The two lead up races to the Golden Slipper were solid hit outs but the question will be was the Slipper winner there? Arcaded was pretty professional, sat outside the lead and was strong to the line. It was a nice form turnaround on its Blue Diamond run and will be hard fit but can it produce in the pressure cooker. The Blue Diamond run says no.

Shaquero put its name there again, had a soft run but knows how to win. Is the Magic Millions winner and shown can get it done when the heat on, once again class query but hard fit. Tiger of Malay may get a run and it was a very nice effort possibly ridden upside down. It was an each way value bet from Sydney Racing Tips Expert Blaazing Ben Perkins at nice value odds of 12-1. It sat off pace and got home hard to just miss. It might be able to charge late in the Golden Slipper if gets a run and looks a Guineas horse in the making.

Coolmore Claasic – top pick 14-1 winner

Krone was our Sydney Saturday Racing Tips analyst Blaazing Ben Perkins first pick and Ben was on the money with this one. Krone got home at the big odds of 14-1 (was 20-1 Friday night when form sheet went out) and got home in nice style. We also updated Krone as a bet in our Saturday morning late mail and here is what Blaazing Ben had to say about Krone:
race 7 – Coolmore Classic No 3 Krone $11.00 1 unit each way value bet
shocked most people as Gollen’s training of Sydney winners has been abysmal. So everybody ignored him and he joined in fine style and blew them away. Up 3 kilos but his win was profound. Is a very good wet tracker as well, won here in heavy at only go, deep value each way.
Late Mail: wide open race 6-1 the field we will take Krone at each way value chance and we like Chaillot as a win bet, backing both.

Winning form is good form as they say and so it turned out for Krone. The mare had beaten a lot of the opposition at the start before but did jump 3kgs and onto a Good 3 surface, not its A1 conditions. However from the gate saved every inch of ground and did enough to win.

Mizzy was our Best Roughie Bet over a week ago and finished second beaten only a head at the big value odds of 150-1. She ran second again Saturday to Krone in another great run and is certain to be at top fitness now. She is in super form and they probably head to the Emancipation Stakes in a couple of weeks. Subpeonaed was the run of the race, 3 wide no cover working hard kept finding line. She had “be on me” as a black booker next start. The other two runs were Rich Hips who was best of the backmarkers and Tricky Gal who raced 4 and 5 wide on pace gone at the 200 but total forgive run.

Sydney Racing Sky High Stakes

The short priced fav Collette failed to perform in the Sky High Stakes. It was an odds on fav and obviously the market grossly underestimated the ground she was running on. Collette is a SUPERIOR wet tracker, historically is probably 4-5 lengths better with the sting out. This was a classic example of the market having “recent bias”(ie selective memory) to her form (which was on wet tracks) without correctly factoring in what she may/may not be able to do on a good track.
