Melbourne Racing Tips Spring Carnival

As we move close to October the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival really comes alive. This includes some really strong mid week meetings at metro courses as it is today at Flemington. It also includes Friday night meetings at Moonee Valley racecourse and Sunday meetings also in the City or strong country meetings. Our Melbourne Racing Tips with our Expert Melbourne Racing Tips analyst Pete Brinky will be keeping a keen eye on these meetings as we look to ramp up our service for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

And don’t forget this Friday night (AFL Grand Final Eve) we will cover the 3 main races at Moonee Valley including the Group 1 Moir Stakes. We will not cover Mornington Saturday (AFL Grand Final Day) but on Sunday will cover the full meeting for the big Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.

Melbourne Racing Tips – Today at Flemington FREE TIP

Race 8 N6 Twilight Run $5
Won well here 4 runs back and been a bit disappointing at subsequent 3 runs.
Thinking can improve sharply with addition of blinkers here.

RACE 6 KENNEDY OAKS TRIAL

Won last year by Greysful Glamour who went on to run 2nd in the VRC Oaks at 20-1 so it is shown this can be a topline 3 YO distance races despite the better quality horses not contesting this race. This race shapes as a guide to those who are still in the progressive stage of their career and searching for a journey to produce their best some of these horses will not have won races but hey are hitting the line showing they want a trip. This race is run at Flemington where the Group VRC Oaks is run so at the very least this race can let us know if the horse can definitely get some ground as it will be the first time some of these have stepped beyond 1600m.

A couple to keep an eye on today and are worth a small investment are:

Race 6 N4 Gamay
really stretched on for good Maiden win, slight query on its time but we will get a good insight today on its staying ability there was more in the locker last run and it looks the value play

Race 6 N3 Frazil
looks like a definite stayer the query may be whether it has the turn of foot required to put them away here, has really been finding the line last 2 but it has been in a grinding fashion not a turn of foot fashion, the extra 200m is a big plus

RACE 7 AAMI VICTORIA DERBY TRIAL

As with the Fillies division this is a race where the “lesser” 3yo who look to have staying pedigree use it as a stepping stone and often go on to the Geelong Derby Trial as a follow on. Once again a lot of maidens with potential contest this and it can be a good insight into the staying ability of these horses as once again many of them first time beyond 1600m.

Race 7 N5 Olympic Oath
Absolutely looks the one here raced in open 3YO company last run behind Power Scheme that’s SUPER formlines and was steadily finding the line both Skiddaw and High Torque have gone on to win out of the race if it runs the trip it looks the winner

N 10 Southern Moon
Finished right on the heels of Serious Liason who is $4.80 pop here was really finding the line will get a big fitness boost after 1stup at 1600m and will be getting over the top of them late.
