From a racing perspective it was the Cox Plate win at Moonee Valley of Via Sistina was the highlight of the day. After dumping gun jockey James McDonald at breakfast for the starts last Tuesday, she then proceeded to run 2 extra laps on top of her training lap. However rather than a hindrance she brained them in the Cox Plate, won by 8 lengths in record time and storms to Melbourne Cup favourtism at $4.50.

El Castello Storms to Derby Fav
The 3 year old classic race The Derby is this Saturday at Flemington. But last Saturday it was the Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick. Winner El Castello was crunched into fav after its Spring Champion win for the Derby. It had an unlucky 2yo has had a stunning start to its 3YO season winning ALL 4 runs this time in. Trainer Cummings still thinks it was half a run short on the weekend so bodes well for the Derby. Did have every hope in the Spring Champion though up near pace a big plus on the day and they walked. Mind you similar conditions could present in the Derby.
