AFL TIP CARLTON VS ST KILDA
The Saints been the story so far of 2023. With Ross the Boss taking the reins it has been somewhat of a meteoric rise to the top of the AFL premiership ladder. Their toughest test in the final game of gather round (against the Pies) even though it resulted in a loss it was STILL a “PEAK” effort from our Human Behaviour measure.
It creates an extraordinary 5 game “peak run” for the Saints with 3 of those being “SIGNIFICANT PEAK” efforts. They have been by far and away the team that has beaten expectations so far this year.
Carlton was exposed on the BIG Thursday night stage against the Crows in what was a “SIGNIFICANT TROUGH” performance a lot of the damage was done in an opening quarter blitz by Adelaide.
St Kilda have won 7 of the last 9 clashes against the Blues so it’s such an important game for Carlton to not only bounce back from the poor loss of last week but start to right the recent ledger between the two clubs.
Carlton have only lost one game and sit 4th on the ladder but quite extraordinarily they have an “inverted” for and against with (391 for and 406 against) the ONLY side inside the top eight with the “negative” percentage.
Carlton will need to get their attacking game going and the Saints have shown great work rate and discipline to be CLEARLY the number 1 defensive team in the comp (average 59 pojnts conceded). this style of work rate and commitment can be hard to maintain and it will an area the Blues need to exploit if they are to bounce here.
We feel there is a nice “market lead” here with the Blues fav, it shows an underlying “relative strength” indicator on form lines. We expect the Saints to experience a “TROUGH” effort off such a sustained upward performance run at the same time the Blues can bounce
