REMEMBER WHEN ANAMOE DESTROYED THE GROUP 1 ROSEHILL GUINEAS

This week in our Remember When series in preparation for the Spring Racing Carnival 2022 we look at the performance of super colt Anamoe. Anamoe really came of age in the Autumn with spectacular performances and paved the way for an assault on the Spring Racing Carnival’s in Melbourne and Sydney this year. He was really given some time to find his feet with trainer Cummings wanting the best out of him once he got out to 2000m, well he didn’t disappoint.
Resumed beaten under 1 length in HUGE first up run (started fav) then won the Group 2 Hobartville second up in a real fight. Many dropped off him after he was worried out of it in the Randwick Guineas beaten as the odds on fav. But then the DOMINANCE he had at 2000m in the Rosehill Guineas was extraordinary. So much so he was backed into fav for the Queen Elizabeth in front of Verry Elleegant. He failed on the heavy track but you have to overlook that.
James Cummings has a choice to make with the Golden Eagle ($8 fav) or Cox Plate ($9 3rd fav). Being a colt his value in winning a Cox Plate would go through the roof when you couple that with the horse being at its best at 2000m this could be the option. Wherever he goes he has has shown he is a mature horse now.
