The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a Group 1 weight-for-age race held each year in April at Randwick racecourse in Sydney during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. The race is run over a distance of 2000 metres and worth $2 million in prize money (was $4 million prior the cut to prize money recently). The establishment of the $20 million (now $10 million) two week ‘The Championships’ for the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival at Royal Randwick racecourse has seen the Queen Elizabeth Stakes become the standout event for the meeting.
